Wow, I just had a huge epiphany about work. I realized why I have had such a hard time keeping up with my work for the past two years. When I moved back to my old job after a year in another department I took on added responsibility. I started assisting another administrative assistant with her work. How this happened I do not know. She is in a totally different department. My predecessor did not help her but for some reason it became expected of me to help her with her work. Also, once I walked back into my old position I was given a new monthly task that my predecessor never had to do. So for two years I have been comparing myself to him, trying to figure out where he had gotten all the extra time to complete his work. The fact is he was not doing the same volume of work I am doing now. I was able to cut back on helping the other employee, of course with the approval from my direct supervisor, and I have already noticed a huge change in my work load. I do not have near the interruptions or distractions. I cannot wait to see how this allows me to complete my work more. I am sure i will be more efficient and effective in my job. Well, here is to working hard and seeing the benefits at both work and life!!! Everybody have a great day :)
