Well that's good to know! At least I wasn't reading the newspaper AND drinking black coffee... I fear that would've sealed the deal for sure ;)

Good luck to you. I find black to be an acquired taste. After about a week of drinking it that way I found I preferred it. Cheers!

LOL black coffee and the newspaper! How about some half lens glasses perched low on your nose? A cigarette resting in the ashtray? I discovered that if the coffee is good quality and fresh I don't care if it has cream or not, which was a surprise to me since I've always put in milk or cream. You can put off "adulting" as long as you like, black coffee or not.

Well, BLACK to me shows you aren't picky, and have a certain tolerance to your personality. I mean, I was told to eat everything on my plate. Why are people so darn picky about what they eat and won't eat? My wife drives me nuts. I'm constantly thinking, will she eat or drink this. Are we really THAT spoiled? She would never drink BLACK coffee.

Well I'm told our tast changes with age I used to drink mine black and now want cream and sweetener sometimes so if black means old then I guess I'm getting younger yeah!

Haha. Once you go black.... As for me, I'm not there yet. Not sure I will ever get to straight black coffee, however I have slowly reduced the cream and sugar I put in over time. Yay!

I'm not sure I could do black. Why do you want to grow up? :)

@ KobeG- That made me laugh! Funny thing is, my husband IS black, so maybe there's some truth to that, lol! Well, not all the way black, he's mixed... Maybe that's why I like a little cream in my coffee, hehehe 😉 I'm reading these comments while eating lunch, about choked on my omelette from laughing. "Comfort is for chumps"... I gotta remember that next time I work out!

Good for you! : ) If you really want to go out on a limb...add a TBL of coconut oil for health (also shows to help weight loss). That would might you an adult lol

"Organic virgin coconut oil offers several benefits which directly affect the bodies ability to shed extra pounds, most of which have been proven by scientific research."

@Florida, that's usually what I do :) However, I've been reading about intermittent fasting (16:8) and have decided to try taking in virtually no calories until noon. Today was the first day, we'll see how it goes... If it doesn't work out, or I get too hungry, I'll start bulletproofing my coffee again.

jessberry, I just finished my first week without my beloved coconut oil in my coffee. I noticed I was hungry waaay earlier, but not starving. Some say the coconut oil doesn't affect the IF but some say anything over 50 cals interrupts it. Hence my experiment. I am going to continue it this week and see what happens...

@Rckc, that's how I felt today. A little hungry, but not starving. My reasons are the same for the experiment, we'll have to keep an eye on each other and see how we do :)

LOL I had my first cup of coffee when I was 10, it was SeaPort with chicory in it, very strong and Granny would not let us put cream or sugar in it. She said, if we want an adult beverage we had to take it like an adult. I never started adding sugar or cream to it till I was in my 30's.

Granny sounds like one tough lady, lol! When I was little, I would sit in the kitchen and listen to my mom and her sisters talk (they always chatted at the table). There was always coffee, and Mom always had hers with cream only, no sugar. Little by little I would take sips of hers, and up until now, that's how I've always drank it. I don't think I've ever had chicory in my coffee... Is it good?

I agree with Jimmypop. Black coffee is efficient.

chicory is a fiber, and it does what fiber is supposed to do, coffee with chicory in it will clean your pipes quick, fast and in a hurry if you know what I mean. Non of us ever had a problem being regular :)
