Today's thought: we wear what we eat. And I mean this in a very literal way. That is, if we eat good veggies, a little meat, some whole baked potatoes - these are simple, good-for-you food and they have to make us look good, and they do. If I eat something, and think: I shouldn't eat this, instead I should think: "is this what I want to wear tomorrow?"
I think that there is a time and place for the "bad food" - you have to eat and there is nowhere else to go, there's a party and a beautiful cake being shared, there's a girls-night-out. Just like there are places to wear those fancy clothes, there are special times and places for those fancy foods! But...they fit into the plain and mundane daily meal plans - the healthy food! And one little secret that I recently discovered (rediscovered) is that if you are a little bit hungry, any food tastes great! Now, not ravenous, but looking for some food - you pick something good for you, freshly made, and wala! it's delicious! Tip two: don't overstuff yourself. That way, you feel like you could keep eating that food that tastes pretty good - which is good, because you will look forward to it for tomorrow or next week, and it's easy to cook, so now it's on your list of "good meals."
All this to say: I have been eating when I get hungry, and eating what I have in my lunchbox or something I have to go out of my way to get. So far, so good. Planning, planning, planning. Not obsessed - I am preparing what I am going to "wear" tomorrow. Is my lunchbox as clean as my socks? I won't wear capris - I won't wear those french fries!
