Instantcrazy's Journal, 08 January 2015

OK, I was good and did my work last night instead of journaling. Sorry.

Guess what happens when you make toys in China? That's right! You get unpopular desperate giraffes. For those of you new to my life, I service claw machines, gumball machines, and video games for a living. It's Valentine's day toy time. Everything is a creepy, big eyed, pink animal, except for the frog, he's green. Each animal is holding something Valentine related. A cat holding a heart that says "I love you", a panda holding a rose, a dog holding a string of "XOXO", a giraffe holding a word that says "HUNG". Yep. Did you know that when you have a felt S, flip it and turn it sideways it turns into an N? Further more if you take the word HUGS, put said flipped s between the u and the g it turns into HUNG? I kept staring at the giraffe I was putting in machines, going "no, what does that say? no." Finally I emailed a picture to my boss with the suggestion that we are going to be getting phone calls. His response was "ONLY YOU!" Yeah, those giraffe are getting pulled from the machines. I'm awesome! I imagine if these machines were adults only the poor little giraffe would be very popular. Instead he's going back to China, and I'm the crazy lady all alone in the game room laughing out loud at a pink giraffe. I love my job.

Since I have so much free time and needed a hobby I decided to start a vegetarian group in my town. You are in the presence of the founder of the "Blah blah blah Vegetarian Society". It's a working name. I got the idea from the VegFest I went to this past summer in Indy. It annoyed me that I don't have a resource like this in my town. The area I live in has a population of almost 300,000 people. Granted that's including the outlying rural area, but it also includes a large university, and a town nicknamed "East Berkeley" where all the residents wear Birkenstocks. I promise you, there's a couple of vegetarians somewhere in that group. The food co-op I belong to has a classroom, so I contacted them about using it for my group meetings. They loved the idea, and are going to help me get my group off the ground including advertising. YAY!

Ok, down to business now. My giant 4.6 lb total weight loss last year made me decide it's time to get serious. It all came down to what I ate. I was doing so well until Halloween, then I got a taste of sugar, then another, and 5 more, and gained almost all my weight back. I also had something very curious happen with this increase in sugar. I’m pretty sure I have candida overgrowth. I started having not so pleasant symptoms that I believe are directly related to me feeding the candida in my body too much sugar. Of course according to the internet Candida Overgrowth causes everything from athletes foot to ADHD so who knows what will happen once I start this. I've been doing research on how to get rid of it. It’s going to be a big and lengthy commitment. No more sugar, period, including foods that turn to sugar. I've gotten some oil of oregano to start taking as an anti-fungal, plus coconut oil is good for that as well. There’s something called die off that doesn't sound pleasant so I’m trying to figure out how to deal with that. Anybody ever do with this?

I’ve also started learning TaiChi. It’s something I've always been curious about. So I found some videos on YouTube and I’m slowly learning the moves. It’s a lot harder than it looks. I think it will be very good for me both physically and mentally. It’s also an exercise I feel I could sustain for the rest of my life. I’m not into laying on the floor to exercise, and I don’t sweat. I don’t like to sweat. I don’t do it.

That's all I've got for now. Don't want to wear out my welcome. Stay real.

OH I ALMOST FORGOT! I have been getting better at telling myself no. No, you're not hungry. No, you don't need to eat that. Yay me!

Oh, I enjoyed laughing about the giraffes! Thank You. I can just picture you, laughing out loud, surrounded by pink giraffes with "HUNG" written on them! Priceless!! I know I would have had a good time laughing if I had been there, not caring who heard me. Good for you starting a veggie group and on your positive attitude toward reaching your goals. TaiChi looks rewarding. Good Luck!

Love the giraffe!!!! stop eating anything with yeast, that may help. I have this huge alternative medicine book, I'll check it after work and see if there are some suggestions in there, sometimes they work. Have only a minute before I'm forced to get ready for work. Thankful everyday I have a decent job, not a great job but it works.

You are a funny lady!!! I hear a stand up comedian in the making... Be careful with those online sources of info re: candida. I had an overgrowth problem last year, went online for info, found a couple of really informative websites, but ended up with an infestation of another kind -- a virus problem in my computer. Turns out these candida info sites are often hiding places for computer viruses and malware. The one that infected my computer came from Malaysia via British Columbia. Only go onto the sites that are part of the more well-known medical advisory sites.

Thanks everyone! Wfn I can't wait to hear what your book says. Thanks for the heads up about the virus. How did you deal with your overgrowth Carol?

I forgot to look.... doing it now. Several pages: dietary taboos. Sweets, alcohol, refined carbs, sugar ( including sucrose, fructose, fruit juices, honey, milk products, most fruit except berries, and potatoes), vinegar. Also food molds in cheeses, mushrooms, and fermented foods. Caprylic acid supplements, berberian, and goldenseal extract, garlic, grapefruit seed extract, aloe, ginger, cinnamon, rosemary, licorice (don't over do this you may have diarrhea) oil of oregano, and tea tree oil are some herbal remedies. Also add b complex vitamins, vitamin e, beta carotene and any immune system booster. This is from a nook called Alternative Medicine The Definitive Guide put out by the editors of a magazine called Natural Solutions. It's over 1200 big pages, must weigh over 5#s :)))

Nice book! Use it for strength training when you're done reading. Thanks for looking that up for me. This is going to be hard. I love bread and potatoes and vinegar and cheese and sauerkraut. ugh! I just want to stomp my feet like a little kid. I know once I bite the bullet and just do it I'll feel better in the long run. I read 1 reason it's so hard is because yeast makes you crave all those foods. I believe it.

awwww. Never had that issue of a yeast infection.. It said it's contracted vaginally and increases with women who have been birth control pills, antibiotics, decreased immune systems. It's often fostered by a combination of sugar consumption and estrogen production.

Not much on strength training but an interesting reference book, it's too dang heavy to read much of it at one time!!! It would be strength training just holding it up!!! LOL.

That is just one form of yeast infection. The more I research it the more I learn there are a multitude of symptoms caused by yeast. Athletes foot, toenail fungus, thrush, skin rashes, brain fog, the list goes on and on.
