I'm updating for the second time today to note the massive storm problems we've had today. We were watching our local news channel's live coverage of a tornado that ripped through Tuscaloosa about an hour west of us, knowing that it was headed our way. It missed my neighborhood by about 10 miles, going north of us. We had our pets ready to dash to the basement. I packed up my office into my briefcase and was ready to take cover. We got lucky. I'm listening to reports about many others who were not so lucky tonight. They said debris were falling in our area, clothes and personal items even, from the destruction west of us. I did see a large piece of sheet metal lying on our street. We've gone through a lot of bad weather, but this seemed especially scary.

we had a tornado watch in southern ontario today, that is very unusual for us here. not sure where Tuscaloosa is, but i'm glad you and your family are safe and sound! it is scary business!

Coco, I know how scary that is....we had a similar situation here last weekend when the tornadoes tore through St. Louis. Glad you are safe, and I am praying for those that have been affected. It has been such an awful spring for these horrible storms. Hugs!

Thank you all for your concern! Stef, you do know what I'm talking about considering what happened in St. Louis. What a nightmare! I am worried about the aftermath we'll see come dawn tomorrow. Really tragic.

I also have been watching (have family who lives in Prattville, AL). They too were spared, but the devestation in other parts of the state is unbelieveable. My thoughts and prayers are with you! Much Love.

Coco... hope you are OK... We were to have tornados too.... In Ohio, but nothing happened... just a lot of heavy rain and wind. It's only 43 here now... it was real cold behind the front... no wonder the storms were so strong!

We got lucky in Michigan as well...I don't have cable or watch the news so I didn't even know what happened until I started to see stuff on Facebook! We've had a ton of rain and been pretty stormy...I work for an insurance company and the worst I've heard about is hail damage so far.
Glad you're ok and lets hope things don't get any worse!

Thanks all for your concern and prayers. Everyone in my family was spared, although some people I know are waiting to hear from family in areas where cell phone towers are down. I've lived here all my life and this is the worst tornado destruction I can remember. I've been hearing them call this an EF5 that stayed on the ground through 3 states. There are some youtube videos by people who stood outside in Tuscaloosa to witness it. It looks positively demonic... Just a monster of a storm with these vortices spinning out of it that look like fingers.
