So, hope everyone had a Happy New Year! Now, about those New Year's Resolutions. Sometimes I feel like this is a waste of time, I mean, how many times have I actually KEPT those Resolutions. Well, there have been a few times, and that includes my obligatory "lose 10 lbs by my birthday (March 20th)." Yeah, it's happened once, but obviously I gained it back. These days I'm less interested in weight loss, more interested in fat loss & muscle gains. I worked on that last year, with very little success, but I'm going to buckle down & increase the amount of weight I'm lifting. I had a personal best of 50 lbs on the deadlift a few days ago, and am up to 30 lbs on the bench & overhead press. I'm planning to double that amount by the end of 2022.

As much as I'd like to, I'm NOT resolving to lose X pounds or Y bodyfat, because that's something that doesn't happen so easily. As we all know, you can do everything "right" but still not get the numbers you want. So I'm focusing on what I CAN do, which is resolving to lift weights 3 times a week, gradually increasing the amount of weight. But there's also the diet, and I have to take my husband's Type II diabetes into account. His blood sugar has been way too high, and he's felt awful for the past few months. His Dr. added an injectable medication to his other 2 meds (Metformin & Farziga), which seems to have helped. But I'm going to prep meals based on a low glycemic index rating. Hopefully, the lower GI foods will also help me lose body fat. And again, what I choose to cook & eat is totally under my control, so that is my 2nd resolution. And my final resolution (don't make more than 3) is to find a job in health & fitness after I retire from the Law School in May. I am documenting them here on FatSecret, and will post them on my computer screens at home & work. I think if I report on my progress weekly, I might actually stick with these!
