brendabradshaw's Journal, 20 October 2021

Oh yay!
I gave my notice at work today. I plan to retire the end of the year after 42 years of work, almost 24 here.

The boss was very appreciative of my advance notice as it will give them time to shift and shuffle and cover all the bases.
He understood about the stress of my injury in February when I fell on the ice, trying to get to work and injured the left shoulder.... and it's worse than the right, which happened the same way and took 2 years to heal. Then with the feet troubles, my diabetes issues...haggling now with my insurance over their dropping my Novolog from the formulary and I am out. God is aware of all the details.

I did leave a message at my Dr.'s office about some samples to cover me while they find something as an alternative to my Novolog. Hope to hear from them soon.

Thank you! Being a "list maker"...I'll be working on everything from my budget to my schedule...and the in-between things to finish before I leave the office. This job has been a blessing.

Thank you! I got home to messages from my Dr.'s office and the pharmacy and made a mad dash to Wal-Mart for my meds. It was a mix up somewhere with a generic...ball dropping...but is now corrected and I am good to go, fully stocked with 3 refills in the wings. I am a blessed girl!

Do you have a list if things you like to do during retirement? It's a hugh shift, adjustment to not have to get up & go b/c you have to. .. My friend retired recently, I caught him in his robe at 3pm. 🤭 No judgement, I thought it was cute. We're relatively young.

ACBelle.....not yet but it's in the works. A "plan" for retirement. Oh I get the robe at 3 PM thing already! I have lived alone for most of the past 30 years, don't care to travel/drive much so will be content to branch out a bit, maybe visit the Senior Center at last and look for a couple of friends....run up on my brother in the next town etc. I need to adjust my budget and schedule....and look forward to the time ahead....67 days to go!
