I'm with Kenna, you "plate" your amazing homemade meals so well. Quite stunning actually.

ripsic, you’d be proud to know, the dough of this bread is difficult to knead, it’s quite a workout! Paula Vieira can bake it in astonishing 30 minutes but it takes me much much longer🤣 Thank you for the compliment, tomorrow I’m making something Asian. Stay tuned!

Hancock, I wish you a speedy recovery. I was hospitalized at the very beginning of the pandemic, and I remember couldn’t eat. Then after a week or so I started eating oatmeal because that’s what I craved. And soup occasionally. I hope you find something you could eat soon.

My mom was from county Kerry... I never heard her accent because I was born into it... we used to make Reuben sandwiches together alot... the cheap kind because we were poor but I've never tasted one as good as she made❤

Marpingo, really? So, do you speak with the accent too? My gardener’s name is Patrick☘️🇮🇪and his accent is mesmerizing. To be honest I don’t understand him very well but we manage, and we share meals sometimes. He also sings some morbid Irish songs (drowned sailor, dead soldier etc). Your mom’s Reuben sounds fantastic, did she use rye bread? Reuben is my favorite sandwich, it’s comforting.

Yfritz.. no accent for me. I was born in Michigan. But she grew up there, with her 5 brothers, In a dirt floor cottage. She came to the US in 1964 and learned English by watching Sesame street..lol. her name was Johanna, but pronounced "shavaun" in Gaelic. So when I got in trouble, it was "Mara Shavaun!" Which is not near the Gaelic spelling. I always wished she'd have taken us back to the old country but it wasn't meant to be I guess. Yes, we used rye bread. In fact, when I was younger, I was a pastry chef ( journalism didn't work out) and I think part of the reason was just missing her so much. She died of breast cancer when I was 19. She was only 54... long story. Thanks for letting me walk down memory lane. I'd love to hear your gardener sing sad Irish songs 🎶

Marpingo, the spelling is Siobhan (it's my younger daughter's middle name). 😊

Marpingo, you were a chef? That explains the fantastic frittata you made the other day…
Thank you for sharing your mother’s story. So, Ms Shavaun (lovely sound!) was the only girl in the household. I can’t imagine having 5 brothers. I don’t know a lot about Ireland; Patrick doesn’t talk about it much and he gives me an impression that life was hard. I hope you get to visit Kerry one day. He did show me a few photos and it is a beautiful place.

My daughter and son-in-law are recovering from the Covid very well. Daughter’s sense of smell is almost back to normal. She gets retested tomorrow and then returns to work on Monday. My son- in- law is doing well also but just a couple days behind Devin. His sense of smell has not started to come back yet. They will be getting the third shot as soon as it is available to them. Thanks for asking everyone. Incredibly lucky.
