TXSnowman's Journal, 09 May 2014

Good Friday Morning to all my FS friends.

I've been on vacation for the past week or so and won't be back until mid-week next week so I haven't had access to a computer to record journal entries, but I have been able to read your entries on my phone.

I'm in South Carolina visiting my Son, his wife and my 20 month old and 6 month old grandbabies. We've been having a great time visiting a plantation and the historic gardens, as well as Ft. Sumter. We toured the Yorktown aircraft carrier, a submarine and a destroyer. We spent a day at the beach and a couple of days downtown seeing the antebellum homes and letting my grandson play in the beautiful waterfront parks.

I don't have a scale, so I don't know how my weight is going, however, I don't feel as if I've gained any. One measure of progress is that I bought a new t-shirt and I'm still a "men's medium", so I haven't increased my girth any (I used to be a 3X, so Medium feels great!).

I'm recording everything I eat in FS and I've targeted a maintenance mode for this trip. I'm attempting to keep my intake even with or below my output on average and feel that I'm doing particularly well at it (big shock there...I have a long history of throwing caution to the wind on vacations and gaining tremendous amounts of weight whilst away from home).

I can't do anything too strenuous, as I really hurt my back the week before I left for vacation. The pain has subsided quite a bit and has reduced in intensity and in area, but I'm still not going to do any weight lifting until it is completely healed. That being said, I have gone for a 16 - 18 mile bike ride along the beautiful trail system out here every morning and we've done quite a bit of walking during our sightseeing. We're going to play golf in Myrtle Beach tomorrow and maybe go on a Zip-lining over the ocean.

I'm sticking with the 16/8 plan, so I don't eat until afternoon. I'm not staying with a super low-carb/low-glycemic eating plan, but I am watching total calories and trying to make reasonable choices. But it is my vacation, so I am giving myself a little leeway as long as my total caloric intake is within bounds.

Well its time for my morning ride, so I'll sign off for now. I hope y'all have a wonderful weekend!

Sounds like you're doing very well while on vacation. Kudos. Not an easy thing to do. Doesn't it feel great to have all that freedom to move and enjoy the grand kids without all the weight hanging around the middle. Enjoy the rest of your trip.
