Multiplicity1's Journal, 17 November 2010

I am doing a lot better than I was the other day. I am still very stressed over my husband but I am trying to stay in the day and keep it together. He will be getting a spinal MRI next Wednesday and a sleep study Dec. 2nd then he should be able to get the referral to the Mayo Clinic. He felt pretty sick yesterday but he decided to go out and walk with me anyway because he said he wouldn't do anything if he stayed home every time he felt bad (which is every day now). We walked for 30 minutes. He had been doing Atkins with me but yesterday told me he is eating stuff he shouldn't including sugar. I feel sad about that but there is nothing I can do about it.
I have decided to try to stop drinking my diet sodas. I think the artificial sweeteners are making me crave food. I haven't had any so far this morning and I usually have two by now. I need to get back to the basics of drinking enough water and eating 12-15 carbs of veggies every day. I'm going to try fried okra w/parmesan cheese. That should be good.
My puppy is doing great and getting bigger every minute I think. She gets her final puppy shots next Monday and then we can take her to the dog park. I am a little nervous about that. I don't know whether we should let her go into the section for the small dogs because she is a puppy or the large dogs because she is going to be a medium sized dog.
She will be ecstatic to have some dogs to play with.
I didn't gain or lose weight last week. I still weigh 181.5.

Andrea, I am so glad that you are feeling better. I have been praying for you. You are going through so much right now. I am sorry that your hubby isn't following Atkins with you anymore, but don't let that derail you. You are doing super, especially with all the stress you are under right now. Hope that you have a great day!

Dog parks can be great outlets for dogs, but be vigilant. Be sure all her encounters are positive!! Are there any puppy kindergarten training classes in your area? They're basically very light on the "training" and generally include a good amount of puppy playtime/socialization. The instructors can easily step in if they spot inappropriate play, like 1 dog getting to be too much of a bully to the others. Puppy kindergarten classes are often found at PetsMart locations, local obedience/performance clubs, or from personal dog trainers. You're so lucky to be raising a puppy!

Hi Andrea... I'm glad you're feeling better about everything today. Life can get so overwhelming, and add to that the stress of no diagnosis. But hang in there.. sounds like your husband is getting every test possible to help figure this one out. As for you...I'm SO GLAD you're giving up the diet soft drinks. They often create cravings (although a recent study claimed otherwise- but I don't buy that study at all, to many out there that contradict those results) and even if they DIDN'T create cravings, which I believe they do, they are horrible for the body in every other way. All chemicals, nothing good and yes, they will replace good, clean water which the body DOES need. I think you've just made a VERY important health decision for yourself and in a month or so without any of that "crap" in your body, you will feel the difference and most likely, feel healthier than before. And NICE job on all of your weight loss! We're STILL waiting for an updated picture! lol... have a nice day, Andrea. And thanks for your very kind comments on my journal entries, too!

Andrea, I will continue praying that the Drs can find what is wrong with your husband so he can begin the healing. There is nothing worse than having those we love in so much pain. Don't stress over his diet, it's probably the last thing he needs to be thinking about right now. But as for you, be sure to do what you need to so you can stay healthy for him. Giving up those sodas will be the best thing you can do right now. Focus on your water and those awful veggies.

Hi Andrea, you sound so much better in spirit. I'm sorry that your husband is so sick without any idea of what is wrong with him or what to do about it. All you can control is what you do with you, as you know, and you sound like you are on track. Your puppy sounds adorable. So glad you have a wee something to love and love you back. Give him an extra cuddle/scratch from me.
