I can tell from my diet calendar I'm getting somewhat discouraged with Atkins. My carb count is the highest it's been in weeks -- 62 net carbs -- even though the calorie count is the lowest it's been in weeks, 2700. Second time in a few days that I've had a somewhat high carb count. I feel like watching the carbs hasn't made a difference. All the carbs I had today I consider healthy -- cabbage from the mu shu pork, peppers, and strawberries. I was so full from dinner that eating afterwards never crossed my mind. And stepping on the scale tonight I can see that my weight is down a couple of pounds from last night's evening check.
I'm beginning to think there's nothing magical about Atkins, it's all about creating a calorie deficit, and low-carb is just one way of doing it -- a good way if you're carb sensitive which I believe I am. None of the carbs I ate are going to spike me, and they definitely didn't set off a feeding frenzy. I think they actually helped me feel more satisfied.

Hi
Sorry to tell you - But there is NO MAGICAL about Atkins :) No matter how much you count your carbs or/and your cals.. If you dont it the right way it will not help (And you are not doing Atkins that way either :) You can maybe trigger your brain to think so, but not your body - You have to do it right and even then it not an easy way.

Looking at my diet calendar, what changes would you recommend so that I'll be doing Atkins the right way. I've already cut back on cheese.

I have a few suggestions to help cut back on the carbs. You aren't going to like them though :) During Induction you shouldn't have nuts or berries. Those are foods that are introduced back into your diet slowly during OWL phase. Looks like you are getting a good amount of eggs, meats and veggies (GOOD JOB!) although try to watch out on the green beans. They are higher in carbs and probably better for you during OWL. I am not sure what RDI you are aiming for, but each day you are over the suggested amount that you have it set at, ranging from 2300-3000 cals per day. I know in Atkins that calories aren't as critical as carbs, but this might be also causing a stall. Induction is very restrictive, but there are plenty of food choices out there to keep hunger at bay without cutting into your carb counts. There are a ton of recipes on the web, including my favorite at: www.genaw.com/lowcarb -- Wishing you the best of luck! Just stay committed and make a few adjustments here and there and you will see some changes. It is all trial and error. Take care. Holly

I agree w/ RedHolly. Omit the nuts/berries for now. And work on lowering the cals a bit and keep net carbs at 20 per day.
