alllicat's Journal, 18 May 2010

The goings are slow.

I know I shouldn't agonize over ounces, but I really thought that I'd be over 50lbs by now. Maybe that wishful thinking. Today is 6 months since I've decided to change my lifestyle. Six months ago today I woke up and said, "screw being fat, I'm changing my life now." And I did. While looking for something healthy to eat at Dunkin' Donuts, I got to work and googled the number of points in their eggwhite flatbreads. I found this site, and 6 months and 49.4lbs later, I'm still here. Still struggling, still writing whiny journals.

Honestly, the only thing that I'm doing differently now is using this website. I credit my weight loss and my ability to stick to it to this site, and you, my buddies. The ones that are there to pick me up after I've had a rough week, and the ones who's stories in their own journals who inspire me to do better. Everyone here is special, but truly I need to thank, MomOfTwoGirls (Sarah), madaboutmoose, roxchick (Gina), Lala (where are you, Laura?), beets, and information. Without your words of encouragement and your stories of motivation, inspiration, and preserverance, I wouldn't be where I am right now.

So, in that last paragraph today, I have listed what I am most thankful for. I could make two lists today. In no particular order:
1. Sarah
2. Gina
3. madaboutmoose
4. info
5. Laura
6. Beets

1. the first 10 lbs
2. the second 10 lbs
3. the third 10 lbs
4. the fourth 10 lbs
5. the fifth 9.6lbs :-\

You're not whining at all--I totally understand the frustration. Oh lord, do I. But don't forget how very very far you've come! You've lost 49.6 pounds! How many sizes was that? A lot, I am sure. And I am sure you look and FEEL like a completely different person.

You are an inspiration to ME. You are so close to that 50 lb mark... you will get there before you know it. Have you tried that interval training thing I've seen mentioned by other buddies on here? I heard it's good to switch it up when you hit a plateau. Good luck! :)

@Erika: When I started I was a size 13/14, bordering on 15/16, I'm not depending on the pants either a 7/8 or a 5/6. I've never calculated my inches, but I'm sure that would be too scary for me to write down. @Chris: I don't belong to a gym and a really small apartment, asides from Wii Fit, walking, and yoga, I'm pretty much assed out in that department. However, I'm going to switch it up in a few weeks because I'm going to be starting teaching swim lessons on Saturday mornings at a local pool. Yipee!

Awww - ;~) tear! We all lean on each other here, and for us, we have actually been able to do it in person! We are really lucky that we live so close, though really, its not close enough! I know it sucks to look at the scale, and see that your still 4oz away (or whatever it is) from your goal, but really, its only 4oz - they don't make a difference! Come to the gym with me one night and I'll get it off ya!!!!! HUGS!

awww, you're SO welcome, Alli!! :) :) I feel honored being in your list! And let me tell you something, i agonize over the ounces too! I get on the scale 3 or 4 times every morning to see what if the ounces will change. Just relax, and move forward. You're a pro at this now! :)

hi alli, i just wanted to say what an inspiration you have been to me on this website. reading your story and identifying with your struggles as well as goals have given me the extra power to reach the 32.5 pounds i have lost in 2 months. i had used this website RARELY in the past and when i started at 194 in march, i needed to commit, i needed help, to be held accountable and you were the first person i befriended here. knowing there was another person who had access to my progress really kept me going and logging in everyday. thank you so much for sharing your story with us and im so happy for how far you have come!!!!!:)

You are not whining at all. We definitely all get discouraged and disappointed and frustrated and that's why we keep coming back and pushing each other forward. (It's why when I'm away from here I let things go and I start to feel crappy about myself.) You have been frustrated but you have never given up. So, no, you are not a whiner. Sounds like maybe you need to switch things up a little and add something to your routine--or maybe shake things up with your diet a little. Will you be able to swim where you're teaching?

How sweet of you!!! And how lovely to read on a day I absolutely do not feel inspiring to anyone at all ... even to myself!! I get frustrated too ... I think we all do from time to time. I couldn't agree with you more in terms of the "difference" the "fatsecret" is all of us!! Keep plugging along my dear ... you are doing wonderfully!!! Congratulations on making a decision to take good care of you!!! You are WORTH it!!
