As I logged into my FS account today, I found the following message, quoted in red below, in my inbox. I am not going to name the author but this has to be the most intrusive and patronizing piece of sh*t I've ever had the displeasure to read here. And this from someone I don't know, will never meet and had only "befriended" (note the inverted commas) here one or two days ago.

Welcome fellow commuter on the FAT SECRET highway.
Happy to have another fiend on this highway. I checked out your profile and you last journal and food journal entry. I feel ya. The strong silent type is what I got from your pic. Okay so what type of car are you sitting in while cruising on this highway? Your not in the parking lot and not waiting to get onto the on ramp. Your in the cursing lane. Okay time to kick this off and get you back into the traffic.
Okay not into the speed lane yet, but just into the flow of traffic. I saw your into goat cheese. I discovered that last year and love the taste. Okay weathers got you down in Britain. I am here in Florida, USA the sunshine state unfortunately its a little cold, cloudy and rainy. I can't let this get me down and neither should you. Keep up the motivation and get into pumping some iron on the inside while you wait to lace up the sneakers again. Question: When you run what are you contemplating? Are you in the here and now? Give me an idea of your goal for the next 25 days.
I wouldn't dream of telling someone what they should or shouldn't do, let alone criticize them for not doing something in conditions they dislike, namely in this case running in the rain. And no, I won't tell you what I intend to do in the next 25 days: I don't OWE you or anybody anything. I certainly don't write in my journal here to apologize or justify my actions, my training or what I eat.
This attitude and behaviour are the last things I expected to encounter on a site like FS which is primarily about exchanging information and support. Since some people are apparently using this site to look for 'fatties' to patronize, I would suggest they go and do that elsewhere or, even better, NOT do it at all.

I hope the New Year that has just started is treating you well and that you will achieve whatever goals you set for yourself.
I can't bring myself to log the food I eat now, after an absence of two weeks from FS. It doesn't mean that I won't keep on counting calories! but it is time consuming to do it here when I can keep track of what I eat as easily offline. Besides, I took resolutions to get more things done, which means I will have to limit the time I spend online. However, raising my middle finger to Facebook will ensure I'll still be able to write long and verbose entries here :) and thus cultivate the interactions and friendship with FS buddies.
Trying out other diets like low carb, paleo, etc isn't on my list of priorities either as I find limiting the amount of calories I ingest to 1400 is easy and efficient enough to lose weight. And it is also the only sustainable way to do so in the long term.
Due to the weather, as Britain is being battered by rain and storms at the moment, I can't run as often as I'd like too but I have been compensating by going to the gym and swimming one day out of two. And when I say compensating, it's been more than that as I found I burn more calories that way than just by running :) The one thing I miss at the gym and at the swimming pool is the closer interaction with nature that I get when running outdoors. Hopefully, the weather will improve and I will be able to resume my observations of the plants and the wildlife that cross my path on my runs.

I did a run this morning to the 'Stepping Stone' podcast and again, while I was able to run to the beat for 20 minutes, I had to slow right down over the last 10 minutes as I got too exhausted. I still completed the run and I didn't stop or break into a walk but I had to run slower towards the end to save face. The beat was just too fast for me.
I am going to be pretty much absent from this site over the festive period.
So, before I log off, I wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year 2016 :D

17 December 2015
Last Tuesday, in anticipation of Christmas, I treated myself to a year worth of gym membership, with three months free :) so I can head there when it rains instead of it merely being a choice between getting soaked or staying home. Swimming is also included in the fee so, even though the swimming pool does look more like a bathtub than an actual pool, I can add swimming to my exercise routine.
Today however, it was dry so I went and ran. I haven't stopped running since graduating on the C25K but I was missing the structure of the podcast and wondering if there wasn't more I could do about my running as I dart about like a sedated snail.
So I downloaded the C25K+ podcasts and started on the one titled 'Stepping Stone' last Sunday, which is meant for graduates who want to improve their speed... So, unusually for me, I got to move my legs on the beat of the music and it felt like really hard work the first time. I don't normally listen to music when I run as I want to be able to hear, as well as see, vehicles and other pedestrians. I found that if I kept the volume as low as possible, I would still be able to monitor the trafic and keep out of the way of incoming cars.
The first time I ran to the podcast last Sunday, I really thought the beat was too fast and came close to give up a few times! I ran through the podcast but was mostly unable to keep to the tempo: I would invariably go back to a slower speed and then didn't bother altogether to keep up with the beat.
This morning saw me running to the same podcast for the second time: while I was better at keeping to the tempo for the first 20 minutes, I got too knackered over the last 10 minutes to move my feet to the very fast beat. I completed the run at a slower speed than the one imposed by the music.
Needless to say I felt more tired than usual, having been forced to stick to a faster tempo of running but there was a definite improvement compared to the first time since I managed to follow the beat for the first twenty minutes instead of
none at all
on the first run. I will stick to it for a few more runs and see how it goes, before moving on to the podcasts 'SPEED' and 'STAMINA' which do sound like they're going to be challenging as well :D
I fancied some baozis (steamed buns) for lunch today but my partner didn't like his and I had no qualm whatsoever in eating it in addition to mine, as I dislike throwing food away... besides, there was no nutrition info on the package other than the actual composition so I have
no idea
of the amount of calories the buns contained. I think I will have to forego dinner if I want to stay within the calorie limit.
