Does Any One Know Anything About Strength Training?
I had great success toning my muscles with Denise Austin. I followed Atkins diet last year for 5 months and lost 30 lbs. I also exercised every day (except Sunday) for about an hour. I believe this made the differnce for me. I had don't TaeBo in the past as well but didn't get these kind of results. I think for me it was the combination of doing both low carb for weight loss and exercise to help boost the weight and strength training.

Denise has lots of DVDs and videos out there (you can them cheap on Ebay). Most of them have an aerobics portion and a strength training section. She also has DVDs tailored to certain areas (buns, hips and thighs or Abs for example). You just need a pair of dumbells anywhere from 2-5 lbs depending on how strong you are to begin with. She also has a 30 minute show on in the mornings on lifetime. I think at 7:30. I used to tape them and then I would do two in a row to get my full hour.
Good Luck!

new here-- questions about CCLL and CCLM, and pregnancy after Atkins
Hi Ladies,

I'm new to this site and was reading your posts about being pregnant and trying to do low carb. I lost 30 lbs in 5 months in 2006 doing Atkins. I also exercised every day for an hour, 6 days a week. I went from a size 12/14 (which I had been my entire adult life - on a good day the best I'd ever hope to be was a 10) down to a 4/6. I had never felt so good about myself - just in time for bathing suit season and short season last summer. Well, I found out I was pregnant part way through September and same thing I swore I wasn't going to gain much weight and I would keep exercising. Well, I didn't count on being sick most of the first 5 or 6 months with nausea so I pretty much started eating everything and anything again. I used my pregnancy as an excuse to be bad again and eat forbidden foods. I gained about 45 or 50 lbs during my pregnancy (it was my second and I gained the same on my first). The only thing that helped me this time was my start weight was lower. Fast forward to today, I have a beautiful healthy baby girl who is now 11 weeks old. I am 25 lbs heavier than my pre-pregnancy weight/goal weight. I consider myself lucky, because its not alot of weight to take off and I figure I should be able to do it by Christmas, maybe sooner. My question for anyone out there is this....I've read lots of advice on doing atkins while breastfeeding and most "experts" recommend you don't do induction but you can do maintenance while nursing. I don't understand though how this would work. I know for me I stayed in ketosis the entire 5 months and I never cheated so I lost 1-2 lbs every week. I NEVER gained weight and I'm sure that this is the reason. I don't understand how you can do maintenance and lose weight. If this was the case why wouldn't everyone just do maintenance. I want to do low carb becasue I had success on it before and I know the diet. I'm just not sure exactly how to tailor it so as not to harm my baby or hurt my milk supply but so that I will also lose a pound or two a week. I started yesterday on induction - I stuck to the plan yesterday and today except today I had a banana and a couple tablespoons of peanut butter. I am hoping that with an hour of exercise a day and a diet that consists of mostly protein, veggies, fruit, cheese and nuts I should be able to lose weight. I guess its better than eating processed food and snacks and junk. I really want to get into my size 6 clothes again!!!
