How to help my spouse with his weight loss journey
Hi all, I have personally done WW and lost 25 lbs. After giving birth to my son a year ago, I gained most of my weight back. In February I bought a family membership at our city's rec center and began taking classes every Tuesday night and have lost about 10-13 lbs.

My husband is almost 200lbs overweight, is laid off from his job as a union crane operator and drives taxi to make ends meet. He is also battling depression for which he refuses to get help with. He was hoping to be able to have gastric surgery but our insurance will not cover it. It seems that he put all his eggs in the gastric basket and now doesn't want to do anything. He will not and has not taken a walk with our son yet, will not go to the rec center to work out or even walk in the pool with us. He generally does not want to be seen in public and I am at my wits end and don't know what to do. He is 9 yrs older than me and I am truely afraid that I will be a widdow if he does not get help. I know he does not want to live this way, but I do not know what to do to help him. He always says that "I" need to cook better. I need him to understand that "he" needs to own this problem and make changes on his own. I will cook but do not expect me to cook 3 meals a day and do everything for you. No one did it for me. And with 2 kids a dog and a house to take care of, I hardly have time for myself. I'm not saying that I will not support him, but he truely needs to make this change on his own.

We have a family member who wrote a "life style plan" and has taken an intrest in DH's weight problems and wants to help him. DH has yet to respond to him.

I guess I really need to find someone out there who may be going/been through the same issues whom I can speak with. So if you can lend a hand or ear, I would appreciate it!
