I'm 26 and I've been struggling with my weight since starting college. I'm 5'll" so not huge for my size and thankfully I carry it well. People never believe them when I tell them my weight. I've gained about 10 lbs a year for the past 7 or 8 years and no matter what I did I gained. I could work my butt off exercising and eat a balanced diet and I would gain the same as when I sat on the couch with munchies, sooo the couch and muchies it was. Why kill yourself with diet and excercise when it doesn't do any good anyway. Of course there are many other reasons to be healthy even if your weight doesn't budge, but it's hard to remember that sometimes. I believe I have a thyroid condition, but have been unable to get diagnosed. All the standard tests come back normal and of course the doctors aren't willing to dig any deeper than the standard tests even if you are sure there is something wrong. I have found that to be a dead end. I'm almost ready to see if I can find a more open doctor, it's been almost a year since my last tests. The South Beach diet is the only thing that has worked for me.
I'm ready to have babies and have been for a while, but I really would like to lose at least 30 and if not 40 lbs before getting pregnant. I know the weight I need to lose now will only be compounded by pregnancy weight. Total my goal from my starting weight of 247 is 72lbs or an end weight of 175. Wish me luck I'm going to need it to get that much weight off.

Try This!
I agree with teddy. A little olive oil in a non-stick pan is completely acceptable for phase I as far as I'm concerned and the idea sounds great. I have zucchinni and squash coming out my ears from my garden and that sounds like a great way to switch it up. You all also might try steaming your veggies and topping them with a little fresh parmesan cheese. It makes all the difference in the world for steamed veggies.
Thanks for the tip!

Question of the Day 6/27:
I must be one of the few people to ever do exactly what my dream was. Ever since I knew what the word meant I have wanted to be an Architect. I have a Bachelor of Architecture degree and am working in the field gaining hours to qualify to take the Architectural Registration Exam to become a fully licenced Architect.

Question of the Day 6/19
You think THAT is small! Confused I graduated from a town where the population was 432 (people, not thousand). My graduating class had 13 students and the school was K-12 (the kindergarteners had the same music and gym teachers as the high schoolers). No stoplight, no gas station, no resturant, no grocery store, just houses, a school, volunteer FD and post office. I live in a city of about 70,000 now (but we have 3 acres in town, we would like more acreage out of town. My husband and I grew up rural and don't enjoy living in the city) and work in a city of about 2 million. Went to college in about the same size city as I live in now. Good Question amandilane and thanks for taking on the question of the day!Very Happy
