21 January 2009
January 21, 2009 --
Today starts a new day, and I'm ready to, once again, embark on this weightloss journey. I was shocked to step on the scale this afternoon and be only 4 pounds from my highest weight. I could tell I was putting more weight back on, but...Wow...what a reality shock. I'm not letting that get me down, I'm going to use that to motivate me to keep at this.
I only have about 1 1/2 years before I turn 40, and before the age 40, I have a goal to lose a healthy 78 pounds! I don't want any more "fad diets", I need to get it out of my mentality that weight will just effortlessly drop off. I know I will need to work at this. I'm not going to get anywhere by doing what I have been doing in the last 3 years. I know this takes work and commitment.
So...tonight...my planning begins, my curves will all be measured, and my "starting pics" will be taken. In addition to the scale, I will be using my measurements and pictures that I will take throughout the course of this journey to be my motivators. I will also be making visible my "skinny clothes" to try on every so often. These "skinny clothes" will be clothes that are a size or two smaller than where I am at now, that I will try on every couple weeks to see the progress, and then when I fit in those, I'll find another "skinny clothes" item, and continue on with that until I reach my goals.
I can't wait to reach good health, gain energy, and be a wonderful example and role model for my kids. My hubby is joining me on this journey along with my friend Kari. I'm looking forward to taking this journey with them...with accountability we will look to in each other.

I always HATE tracking my food when I fall out of the groove, but once I start doing it again, ironically, there is an aspect of it that is so "freeing". I had a day today of eating too much "junk", which isn't good, BUT...I forced myself to keep tracking the food, every bit of it, and I come to the end of the day (after eating my dinner), and I still stayed within my WW points (and I only consumed around 1300 calories...if I would have been strictly "cal/fat counting", I would have allowed up to 1800 calories to meet my 3 pound a week loss. So...even though I had a poor eating choice day, I stayed within my goals for the day (if I stay away from the cupboards and fridge tonight!) Okay...off to go walking!!! Gotta walk off those 3 Samoa girl scout cookies!!

Well, today was not a good weigh-in, but this gives me all the more incentive to now start 100% back to WeightWatchers and tracking my food daily.
I have been on medication now for 10 days for my thyroid, and it was so refreshing waking up this morning and just "feeling different". Over the last 1-2 days I've been noticing in a change in how I feel. I just don't feel quite as dragged down over my waking hours, and I think my sleep is just starting to feel a bit more refreshed. At church yesterday for the Easter service, I didn't even feel the usual "imbalance" feeling that I've been feeling for the last 4+ years. I don't know if it was "coincidental" or if that issue is also tied into the thyroid dysfunction. This morning I was getting ready for work and just felt a glimpse better than usual...just not as dragging as I normally am (don't get me wrong...I think I could sleep another couple hours, but it was just a different than normal feeling.)
So...today is my day 1 following WeightWatchers and I'm eager and excited to be back on board!!
