Back to the gym!
Two week rest was nice but I did find myself looking for gym time. Three days into 2015 workouts and I'm feeling strong and getting loads of comments. People are telling me I look good, I guess I still have a bit of an old impression of how I looked and am having a little trouble accepting the kindness.
I've dropped my kcals to a shocking low of about 1300 kcals/day. I'll do this for the week then start adding again up to about 2000-2200 kcals/day or about 300-500 below my BMR and see how that goes for a week or so then increase again. I know I had loads of sugar over the holiday feast season so I am depleting my glycogen stores. I am losing a lot of water as it breaks down. I expect by the weekend I'll need a good big re-feed day. The good news is that my appetite is down and I think I have solved my, "How will I get enough Iron if I don't eat loads of red meat?" question; instant breakfast powder has 50% of the RDI so I have two each day. I have noticed I am not feeling so drained even on the lower kcals after adding the extra Fe to my diet. I really hope to continue making good progress on my fat loss through this winter. I also set a goal of bench pressing 315 lbs in three months. This is going to be really tough but my ego needs it :-) Right now I'm stalled at 275 lbs and I need to find a way to push through the barrier and go up to and eventually beyond my goal. Today was a tough day at the gym, leg day, I could hardly walk when I was finished! My HR monitor calculated I spent 1450 kcal in the 90 min. at the gym, that means the rest of the day is all from fat stores.

Well holly crap! I'm at 20.2% BF; only 0.2% above my goal. I didn't think I would make it by Christmas to 20% but now I think I can safely say I made it!
What an awesome feeling, people are noticing and commenting. I have to get new trousers and shirts.
The goal of hitting 15% seemed like a pipe dream but now it feels like it is in reach. I have my two week holiday from the gym and I will be eating sweets and treats for a few days but I know that there will be very limited gain if any and I can handle a slight up tick in January.
So here's to setting a goal, having set backs, and sticking with it.
Never ever give up.
