alternate day fasting
Yes there isn't a lot of science published out there showing all of the effects alternate day fasting has on humans. But it takes years to get a paper peer-reviewed and published (I am marrying a scientist and worked in a psychology/neuroscience lab---it is a long process). The research that is out there, is promising though (

). This is why I started an alternate day fasting diet and started blogging about it.
This diet isn't for everyone. But for people like me that are overweight and have a family history of heart disease, diabetes, and other weight, diet, and age-related diseases I think it is worth a try if you are healthy enough to do the fasting portion. Especially since traditional diets with calorie-restriction everyday make one feel deprived, which is why people quit them.
