Well, I'm doing fairly well on my attempt to lose approximately 10 lbs. I've been following a low carb diet routine for the past four or five years. Just recently I have started to gain some weight. I have not been as disciplined as I should.
After getting out of the military, I started gaining weight and no matter what I did I just kept gaining. I got up to 225, the most I had ever weighed. I'm only 5'10". So I was in a dilemma, just how do I lose weight. Due to an old football knee injury that finally caught up with me, long distance running, something that I enjoyed for many years, was no longer an option. I also enjoyed drinking beer. I really didn't appreciate the carb intake impact on weight gain. So, finally this guy I know lost a lot of weight on a low card plan, and he still drank beer, but the low carb variety. After he shared his key to success with me, I decided to give it a try. After much alterations, I finally obtained a daily menu plan that reduced my carb intake to between 40 and 60 carbs per day. Well it worked. I lost from 225 to 175 in about 9 months. Oh yea and I still enjoyed drinking beer.
Well now I'm back with the military in Afghanistan, but this time I have started to put on little weight. It is not because of the beer, because there is no beer over here. It is probably because of the great food that is available in the dining facilities for the troops. But I'm not concerned, because with just a little discipline , I'm sure I will reach my goal of 175.
