Feeling better today. Yesterday I ate more calories than I normally do, but not crazy-stupid amounts. I felt my body wasn't healing so I just upped the amount of food I was eating. I have more energy and my cough is better. Still there, but not as much. Though this illness, I still lost a little. I feel like I could get a lot done today but will take it easy just the same until I am completely well. I put on the jeans I wore when I started this journey and they are baggy! Yeah!

I'm sick with a cold today, I was pretty sedentary. The cough is the worst. I didn't plan meals, but had enough good stuff on hand to do fine. I had some home made chicken broth, probably a cup so I hope the sodium doesn't show up on the scale. I really ate very little.
I am frustrated with the calorie counting section here. I chose blueberries and the only option was 1 cup. I had 1/4 cup so it counted more calories than I really had. Also brown rice..I had 1/4 cup cooked and it came up 1 cup and way more calories than it really has. I'll have to figure out how to fix that. Hoping for a more energetic day tomorrow.

I have been doing very well, counting calories and fat, as well as eating high fiber foods as much as possible. From when I first started (prior to signing up here around the last week of March) I have lost a total of 12 pounds. That makes me very happy. I always keep prepared carrots and apple slices ready in the fridge so when the urge hits, I eat a couple of those. The crunchiness of those foods, plus the good flavor is very satisfying. A bonus: my jeans are getting baggy already!!!!
I have done Atkins, weight watchers, counting carbs, exchange diets and a host of others. I am now doing my own healthy thing and it is working, I feel good, have more energy and I know my heart is doing better because I don't have that extreme shortness of breath. I just take it one step at a time to my goal of 140. Perseverance will win the race.

I have quit caffeine after many years. I weaned myself by mixing regular with decaf and gradually took out the regular coffee. Today was my first day with no caffeine, and I feel good. No headache. I choose my food carefully and I don't even miss the bread I once loved. In the last 10 days, I've had one slice of bread. I will introduce it again, only this time I will make it with sprouted wheat. After 11 days of healthier eating, I have lost 9 lbs. Today is the first day I have taken a walk in a very long time. It was basically a block, uphill, but for me that was a huge step. For once in a long time, I feel very hopeful.
