So So Sorry
I wasn't trying to be negative,as I said in my post in the past two years I have hit some major medical issues that limit my activity.I have never been overweight that is why it's "maddening". Did you stop to think you may have a higher metabolism. I tried 1200 a day for two months to no avail.I told my doctor about this and she didn't have a problem with it. You have a good point though, I probably should see a nutritionist because they are so much more intelligent than a doctor. As for "finding it hard to believe" I really don't care and for some people losing weight is hard. I joined this group to learn not to be berated and lectured to.

So So Sorry
I failed to mention that I am a newbie and not computer savvy. I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this. Anyway, never had a problem with weight until maybe two years ago. Physically my job kept me in check, as I worked for a national freight line for 31 years. In that time I have had many back, shoulder and knee injuries, even a few broken bones. Time has broken me and that is the problem. I haven't been active and put on a lot of weight. I joined this group to gain knowledge and get a better understanding of how everyone deals with this. Losing weight is very difficult and takes extreme discipline and determination (in my opinion). I started in mid January at 277 and am currently at 214, my goal is a smelt 185...I WILL GET THERE! Because of low activity level I have had to follow a maddening diet. 500 calories a day with a cheat meal or sometimes a cheat day on Saturday...Told you it was maddening, especially if I hit a plateau. There has to be a better way. I look forward to learning from everyone. What's the saying "grasshopper has much to learn".
