WooHoo! I hit the 10 lbs lost mark. Finally. It's felt like a real slog but now I am finally here. What a relief to know that my rules and my plan are working. This has certainly brightened up my morning. Wishing everyone else success with their own plans.

losing 2.8 lb a week

I guess it could be worse? Only 1/2 a pound lost for the week is better than nothing. I was doing really well until last Sunday when I had a Brunch out with 3 of my clients and then there was a Super Bowl party. I had one mimosa at the brunch and vegan pancakes (I only ate 1/2 of that) but it left me feeling like I was going to fall asleep at the wheel driving to my sister's house. When I got there I needed to lie down in the worst way. i guess I have been doing without all those excitotoxins and processed carbs and couldn't take the hit. At the SB party we brought a dish we could share though it was still vegan hot dogs in crescent rolls. There were only 2 other food items we could eat there-vegan dumplings and one guy made a broccoli/tofu stir fry with soy sauce. He wasn't even vegan but he liked this recipe. So I only had one small plate of food but man the salt levels-through the roof. Later I had a cocktail my husband made for the party and one each of the cupcakes I had made for the party-chocolate almond ones and mango/coconut. They were normal size cupcakes-not huge. The funny thing is that there were bowls of crackers, chips, pretzels and cheesy puffs sitting right in front of me and I never noticed them AT ALL. Plus vegan chocolate candy strewn about. Never saw it until I was helping the hostess clean up. Now there was some Caramel Corn with almonds and raisins in a big bowl. The other vegan at the party had made it and boy did I ever chow down on that-like 2 of those paper party bowls worth of it. I clearly need a rule for the popcorn. So overall I thought I did pretty well. I sure didn't binge on anything like I would have in the past but on Monday morning I was up nearly 4 lbs! I spent all last week working that off. I am prepared and motivated for a brand new week. I would love, love, love to be down to 232 by next Sunday. I have a massage exchange with a therapist that dropped 8 lbs in January "just by quitting her wine habit." I am feeling competitive with her for some strange reason. Maybe it's motivating me? Anyway, it's time WE Get to IT everybody. Have a healthy and productive week ahead. Keep reaching for your goals.

Down another pound! Woo Hoo! I have been actively working on changing my brain-habits, thoughts, reactions. Glen Livingston says to "Love the Journey, not the Destination." He's correct about the focus being strictly on the scale is counter productive ultimately. By making the changes in my mind the weight loss is a happy side effect of those changes. Still, the drop gives me confidence that I am on the right track and not just spinning my wheels again for the 100th time. My morning mantra is: "I make choices that align with who I want to be, where I want to be emotionally, what I want to weigh; choices that make me proud." Happy Sunday everyone.

losing 3.5 lb a week

Finally hit the 7 lb loss mark. It seemed like nothing happened in January scale wise though I did get super clear on my "rules" and I realized the reason why I would have super intense cravings in the afternoons between 1-3 pm. If I have been having a super stressful morning and don't have time to take even a 5 minute rest break (no phone, no interactions, just rest or walk outside) then my brain sends out the emergency signals and I get stuck in that sympathetic state of fight or flight. So 8 days ago I was having a strong chocolate craving, really intense and I stopped and somatic breathing-count of 7 on the inhale, count of 11 on the exhale. I did this about 4-5 times and I could tell that I had switched over to the parasympathetic nervous system (rest and digest). My cravings practically vanished. Knowing how to deal with the cravings I wrote down my new rule-"I will never again eat chocolate candy" and I make sure to take a 5 minute break, or do the breathing, when I am stressed out. It's been 8 days and I am chocolate candy free with no interest in it at all. That's an even bigger WIN than hitting the 7 lb mark. I've got some freedom around this chocolate bingeing that has been plaguing me for years. Have a great Friday everybody.
