That’s because the FDA has refused to add an “Added Sugars” line (in grams) within the “Sugars” section on the nutrition facts label. Instead, added sugars are only mentioned in the ingredient list — and only in decreasing weight order, not by percentage of calories.
Holy cow. Food labels are allowed to lie to you.

Lies, damm lies, and Jimmy dean sausage
How many people have noticed this?
I am starting a keto diet. I have sworn off bacon for 20 years! I am toying with the idea of sitting down to a bacon breakfast for the first time in a long time.
So I wondered: what about sausage? Well jimmy dean has 180 calories (not suprising), 130 of those from fat (from this site). Ok, it has 1g carbohydrates, but %0 sugar. Where are the carbs coming from?
Looking at Jimmy dean's own web site:
PORK, WATER, CONTAINS 2% OR LESS OF THE FOLLOWING: CORN SYRUP, SALT, SPICES, SUGAR, MONOSODIUM GLUTAMATE, FLAVORINGS.
IE, they add sugar to it. And corn syrup is just another way to say sugar.
But they are allowed to say zero sugar if it falls below a certain percentage, right? Well for starters, food is mostly water, so %2 may sound small but...
The sausage has 180 calories, 130 from fat, meaning that 50 calories come from carbs.
Why does sausage need sugar???
Now I looked up their bacon. It is 140 cal with 100 from fat. Why would that be? The ingredients tell the tale:
Ingredients: Cured with water, salt, sugar, sodium phosphate, sodium erythorbate, sodium nitrite.
"cured in sugar"! And there is that amazing claim to 0 sugars again.
