Yesterday was a mixed up day. We went to a Chinese buffet, not sure how to log it but I had rib meat and pork pieces with green beans. We then went to friends later that evening, wasn't sure what was being served, so I skipped dinner, which I know wasn't the best idea, but buffet was about 2:00. I had a few pieces of cheese and pepperoni. Mind you, I could have had cookies and home make chocolates also! Fortunately drinks are easy for me, I don't drink wine or beer, so it was ice water for me. It's hard to stay on track when you're not cooking for yourself or not sure what others are serving. I'm a picky eater to begin with, so usually I plan ahead so if I don't find anything, I'm usually ok with just coffee or something.

I just had to have some chocolate, so I did. I had a peanut butter cup, yeah, I had 2. They come 2 in a pack. But you know what? I enjoyed it, so now I'm good. I know chocolate itself isn't all bad, but I am a diabetic, so I shouldn't have it, but I did. It's been more than 2 weeks, since I had chocolate and about 2 weeks since I started on medication for diabetes, so I figured a little won't hurt. I'll have to get some dietetic chocolate for my cravings.

I'm off this week and finding it hard to stick to my breakfast and lunch routine (as you can see if you look at my diet calendar). I'm not a big fan of breakfast foods, so I'm better off eating a little later and combining breakfast and lunch then dinner and snack. Eating after dinner has not been too bad lately. I'm trying to only have good snacks in the house as my husband is also diabetic, so its better for both of us. I have to say my grocery bill is going up noticeably. Before I shopped once every 3 weeks or so and ate out a lot, but now I'm trying to eat home more often and make better meals. I feel hungry all the time because I have been looking at more recipes than I ever have before. I have the basic meals that we eat all the time, but want to try and introduce less meat (not to go meatless) just add more variety, i.e., more fish. I like scallops, tuna (not tuna fish from the can though!), salmon, haddock; so I want to have fish once or more during the week rather than meat. I know there are a lot of changes I need to make and am trying to do one at a time, but I have just over 8 weeks before my next blood test and want to have a lower A1c test more than weight loss, although I believe they will go hand in hand if I continue to make changes. Hope you all are continuing to make progress!

Feeling better about what I ate yesterday, stayed under my 1500 calories and didn't eat anything past 8:00 p.m.
