So, I'm back. My life and diet were both interrupted with a family health crisis. Thanksfully, everything is fine now, but I allowed the stress of that situation to knock me right off course.
Technically, I will be starting over. I'm not looking forward to the first 4-5 days on the diet; but I am very much looking forward to seeing the scale move in the right direction again.

gaining 0.5 lb a week

Boy, the last two weeks have kept me running... literally and figuratively. My work requires exercise, so that is helping. While I haven't seen the scale move much, I know it is because I continue to gain muscle weight. Interestingly enough, I must be doing something right because even when I "cheat" (although not outrageously) it doesn't seem to negatively impact my progress. Now, keep in mind that when I say "cheat" I am referring to things like fruit and vegetables... not anything with a real high processed sugar or flour content. Perhaps my cheat choices are good alternatives.
I am finding the necessity of integrating some toning exercises. I have lost enough weight that I want to keep the "loose skin" at a minimum. So, I'm going to start incorporating regular isometric exercises to help keep the loose skin at bay. I'll update my progress with which exercises are most effective for me.
Guess that covers things for the moment. Until next time... I just keep trying to make good healthy choices.

losing 3.9 lb a week

This was a good week; however, I did "cheat". My in-laws were in town to celebrate my father-in-law's 70th birthday. It was an extra special occasion. We had a lovely chocolate cake with chocolate mousse. So, yes, I indulged is a very VERY small piece after dinner. It was delicious. Funny thing is I have never been a chocolate lover... and even now thinking back on it, while it was truly delicious it won't be something I will crave later... or at least, I don't think I will. I guess it was bound to happen sooner or later. The cheating, I mean.
So now I am working toward getting back into ketosis. Here's another crazy thing. I checked my urine the first morning after eating the cake and found that I was still in ketosis although with small traces, but in ketosis none-the-less. I was surprised. My cheating spree lasted a total of two days and consisted of having more than my share of strawberries (which I do love and crave) and two of those small pieces of cake two nights in a row. Oh, and I did have a serving of roasted sweet potatoes with dinner that last evening.
Despite my indiscretions I still managed to drop another 1.2 lbs. Amazing, huh? Not sure how that happened, but I'll take what I can get.

Well, I finally busted through 235... which felt like forever. The last few days I kept removing carbs from my daily intake to force me to move past that weight and all I ended up doing was giving myself a severe migraine! Ok, lesson learned. The only way I could get the migraine to go away was eating some strawberries. It took me two hours for the fruit sugar to work its way through my hard head... but I had relief when it finally did.
The result, you ask? Well, I had sufficient strawberries to kick me out of ketosis for the first time in about 30 days BUT I finally broke the 235 barrier. YEAH! I weighed in at 233.4 this morning and am getting right back on the band wagon. Going forward, I am going to be more sensible with the carbs I am allowed to have. In only 3.4 lbs I will have lost 20 since starting this life change. And I like it! The weightloss I mean... I love it when my clothes begin to feel looser and looser. My ego is far outweighing my desire for sugary snacks and sweets! That accomplishment alone is enough to make me jump for joy!!! I never thought I would fall out love with food... and maybe I havn't... maybe I've just moved my true affection to how I veiw myself... and I guess that's a good thing.
