I weighed myself yesterday and was pleasantly surprised that I had actually lost some weight. I've lost 9lbs since the 7th of May by doing nothing other than working on improving my eating habits and opting for healthier foods.

I now think I should start exercising and so have contacted a family member who is a personal fitness trainer. Having three young children to deal with means that a lot of my time is taken up by them. So, the plan is to go to 121/group sessions at least twice a month and then keep up with doing workouts at home. I'm hoping that an exercise programme can be put together that can work around this and hopefully I stick too.

Since trying to make an effort to lose weight I've been opting for more vegetarian based meals and snacks. Chicken and salmon I eat more for a treat or when I can feel my willpower dwindle and I have the urge to eat complete junk. Cucumber sticks with a little sour cream and chive have become my new favourite night time snack, along with a sliced green apple (tangy ones are the best) with a sprinkle of salt on top.

Yes, I said it. Salted apples. I'm not sure if other people have odd food snack combinations but I would be interested to know. I've always loved since I was a kid, a plate of salted fruit i.e. apples, pears, watermelon, etc. It's not something I've eaten all the time, probably once every couple of months. However, I have had it for the last few nights, so must watch that I don't over do it with my salt intake. I do not use salt for most of my cooking, but will do if making an Indian or Jamaican dish.

I did promise myself that I would not weigh myself until the end of the month but could not resist a weigh in yesterday. Fingers crossed, by the end of the month, I would have lost a nice little amount.

I haven't signed in for quite a few days due to being super busy making celebration cakes. Losing weight is probably the hardest thing to do when you work as a cake designer. But despite having many orders to tend to, I am glad to say that since my last entry I have been excellent with my eating. I have kept my carb intake to a minimum, eating only salads with grilled chicken (or sometimes feta cheese). I've started to realise in the last few days that my comfort eating is easily satisfied with a salad and changing up the flavour of the dressing (keeping it low fat of course).

I did not give into temptation at one birthday celebration that I attended over the weekend. I had strictly salad, veg and lean chicken. And a boiled egg. I avoided all the pastries, muffins, sandwiches, hot dogs, burgers, etc. I also have not touched any sugary drinks, and stuck to plain water.

I have been having midnight munchies but again, I resort back to the salad, adding a bit of dressing and some crispy onion on top.

I've noticed that I haven't been feeling bloated and there's been no sign of indigestion or heartburn.

My brother even got me on the weighing scales but I refused to look. I have promised myself to wait until the end of the month. My brother did comment when he checked my weight, that I would be happy with what it said.

I've also found now that I am eating differently that I am actually looking forward to my meals. Tonight I am having a baked chicken breast with a mango, lime and coriander dressing and a green salad.

I might even take a pic of it and post it up later. x
