Things that are and aren't working:

1. Meal planning is really working. It's making it possible for me to always have something healthy around to eat while limiting my trips to the grocery store (I hate the grocery store) to one or two a week.

2. Spending an entire day at the mall for a trading card tournament last weekend didn't work. Sure, my boyfriend placed in the money, but the only two food places left in the mall are a pretzel shop and a cookie shop (for some reason they just tore out the food court), so that's what I ate all day, and the next morning I'd gained four pounds.

3. Letting myself have a couple of treats a week is working great. Keeps the cravings away without making a major impact on my diet. The important part of that is knowing which treats will have the least effect. Any sort of bread or pastry, or pizza especially, will cause me to gain weight, but a scoop of ice cream once a week or - better yet - an Active D'Lite ice cream bar, which has limited carbs and calories but tastes great, is unlikely to set me too off-course.

4. Staying away from the convenience store where I always used to buy donuts is working. (ha ha--how could it not?)

5. Wearing a brace on my right arm that goes from palm nearly to my shoulder is not working. I'm in it because of a wrist injury, which I don't even think is healing. It's also made a lot of yoga impossible, and it's made me reluctant to go for walks or get on the treadmill. I feel like I have yet to get a good night's sleep while wearing it.

6. Making it to every one of my weight loss program appointments is working. No excuses!

7. Logging my food is working. It makes me see the reality of what I'm eating.

8. Getting support from the great people on Fat Secret is working. You all are awesome!
