Ketogenic Way of Eating (WOE)
I am a 35 year old woman who has been obese pretty much since I was 5 years old. By the age of 12, I was 6'2" and dangerously obese. Glasses, frizzy hair and non-existent self-esteem lead to me starving myself when I was 17 years old. I dropped a ton of weight, turned ghostly white and changed my outside. I was assaulted at 18 years old and gained all of the weight back, and then some.
In June of last year, I discovered Low Carb High Fat (LCHF) and ketogenic eating (KETO) and it's changed my life forever. I was 440lbs when I began this way of eating (WOE) and now I am 352lbs. I eat less than 20 carbs a day, making sure my fat intake is high and my protein is moderate. I figured out the macros online.
I also partake in Intermittent Fasting (IF), eating from noon until 8pm every day except weekends. This kind of natural fasting has helped me control my appetite and has made everything better, health-wise. I no longer shake when I'm hungry, I don't feel like I am going to faint. I don't get "hangry" anymore. I just eat some fat or protein and I'm great! I do drink Bullet Proof Coffee (BPC) from time to time and although I don't drink soda of any kind, I do drink artificial sweeteners just not maltodexrin.
I read every label before I put it into my mouth. If it doesn't have a label and it seems like it's something that could have sugar in it, I don't touch it. I am grain and gluten free in all aspects of my life. Almond flour and coconut flour have become my best friend! Cooking is easy now, after some practice. Also, zoodles or zasta (zucchini pasta).
I don't eat fruit, beans, rice, grains, potatoes, corn, carrots, starches, or sugar of any kind. When I eat tomatoes and onions, I do so sparingly.
