Although my weight has fluctuated somewhat throughout my adult life, I have tended toward thinness. The few episodes of weight gain I experienced coincided with the usual weight-gain culprits: university, bad relationships, babies. Each of those gains was easily lost with very little effort. However, since my second child was born three years ago, I have struggled with my weight and have not found an "easy fix." I developed severe preeclampsia/HELLP syndrome during the pregnancy, and still have somewhat elevated blood pressure. I also experienced postpartum depression for about a year after my son's birth. After three years of carrying around extra weight, I am ready to reclaim a body that feels like mine. I recently turned 35, and have had two children, so I know there will be more challenges with this weight loss than I have previously experienced. In the interest of full-disclosure, I will also say that my willpower in regard to food is at an all-time low. I have terrible eating habits, and I know it. I am also an "emotional" eater and a "bored" eater. I am hoping that this semi-public forum will encourage me to be more accountable to myself by being accountable to others.
