Been struggling a little in the past ten days. Managing to stay with a 150 gram carb average per day but some days are easier and some are harder. I'm on a bit of a plateau right now. I keep focusing on my eating patterns and food choices and I find I like the way I feel even if the scale doesn't move. I feel more alert, haven't felt bloated, and a pair of my pants almost fell off me when I got up this week. Odd how you can lose inches but no pounds.

A challenging week. Pasta jumping out at me everywhere! I'm slowly working out the portion control thing and also working on balancing meals with more carbs with meals with less carbs. I redeemed myself last night with a spinach salad topped with crab meat and no bread. Tonight we had boiled shrimp so that helped too. Found some fruit that I can enjoy with a moderate carb level - berries - love them.

Well, I averaged 133 grams of carbs this past week. We went out to dinner last night. Fortunately I'd banked some carbs so I didn't blow it. I'm noticing my middle feels flatter and I'm not as sleepy in the afternoons. I'm also noticing the world is full of empty carbs! One thing I have to work on is finding a way to include fresh fruit in my eating plan.

Focusing on recording everything I eat, and limiting myself to an average of 150 carbohydrate grams per day. Created a seven day excel spreadsheet with 150 notches per day, and I scratch them off as I eat them so I always can tell how many carbs I have left for the day. Very important to stay focused on a seven day average - do the best I can do per day but some days will be better than others, that's real life. The first two days I did great, then I went over for two days, then was back right on target - when I averaged all the week's carb total divided by 7, I was at 145 carbs per day. Taking a broader view seems to help, it reminds me that this is a permanent eating behavior change, one which allows for some flexibility from day to day. After 7 days, the week starts over, I don't get to use any carbs I didn't use the week before. Where would the change be if I did that?!! I don't really have a goal weight, that's not the philosophy of what I'm trying to do here, but it wouldn't let me post without one so I just took 10% off my current weight. We'll see what happens. Really serious about prioritizing behavior change over goal weight. Stay in the Light.
