I have very low self esteem because of my weight. I am embarrassed to go out in public or to the beach. I was never really heavy until I turned 50 then it seems like all of a sudden I went from 185 lbs. to 285 lbs. I want to lose weight and keep it off for good!

Yeah For Me
Well, I'm down to 271.4 lbs. I can actually notice a tiny bit of a difference in size in my belly. Therese says she noticed it too yesterday. I know if I keep this up it will work and I'm starting to get results, so I'm definitely gonna keep it up - yeah for me Smile

Hopeful
Well I weighed myself today for the first time in a week+ and I was happy to see that I have lost a little weight. I'm down 1.8 lbs. and I believe it's not just water now. I've been eating less everyday at each meal but maintaining a really good variety to ensure that I'm satisfied. Cut down the Pea meal and regular bacon to just once a week and only 2 slices or pieces and I've reduced my daily overall caloric goal to 1800 from 2000. I have plenty of veggies - mostly raw or steamed and a good portion of protein usually in the form of meat. I have had potatoes only twice over the past week and I am eating only 2 slice of a 12 grain Bavarian bread every other day to try and keep my starches and carbs low. I think my body is starting to get used to this now so I'm just gonna keep going and see if I can manage to lose close to the same amount of weight over the next week also - wish me luck. Neutral

Fat Facts
I can't believe that I only hit 83% of my RDI yesterday even after having that wonderful steak dinner! I've been really trying to watch my daily intake and how it relates to Fat, Carbs, Protein and Calories. I noticed that my 'Fat' is usually fairly high and I'm wondering if that is supposed to be that way or if I'm doing something wrong...?

I'm gonna try and research it today and try to get my fat facts straight. Confused

Mon. Apr. 30
RDI(%) 83, Fat 95.51, Carbs 87.60, Sugar 20.18, Prot 114.91, Cals 1666

Calorie Breakdown:
Carbohydrate (21%)
Fat (51%)
Protein (28%)

Does anybody know if I'm fairly on track or just dreaming from the above data Question

Walking with Grandkids
So after yesterdays fiasco of blowing what little progress I had made, me and the wife took the grandkids for a 2 hr. leisurely walk today. We all had a great time. Spent the afternoon walking through the two islands at our water ways lock system. Got to see a blue heron - looks like a crane with the long legs and long skinny neck but has bluish feathers. Came home and had the grandkids and their mom and dad all over for dinner. Made sure to not over indulge as it was barbecue pork back ribs with corn on the cob and smashed potatoes made with '1/2 the fat' mayo... yum. Total Dinner calories = 779, 35.01 Fat, 91.14 Carbs and 27.07 Protein. I can live with it for now Wink

Great Until Beer Entered The Picture...
My day was great until I decided to have a few beer last night during our weekly card/games night...

My RDI was at 86% for the day then after the beers it was 148% - ouch! Guess that's what 5 tall cans of Canadian-made beer does for the bodies RDI.

Note to self, no more beers. I didn't realize how many calories were in beer until I researched it today. Shock

All hail water!
