Disappointed to see my number go up, but I have been doing body weight workouts. I'm hoping it's a sign of increased muscle mass, and not a backslide.

I recently discovered the Nerd Fitness website, and I am hooked. I tried the beginner's body weight workout routine. Oh my. So...that was a wake up call. I thought I was decently strong. I could do 10 modified push-ups and 10 squats in my office every hour for the entire morning without too much soreness. Ha! Pro tip: pursue perfect form, not more reps. I couldn't lie to myself about the shallow (lazy) squats and lunges I was doing at work when I did them in front of a mirror at home. There was no hiding my lack of strength and nonexistent endurance when I was supposed to do the exercises as a circuit. I only made it through the routine once before I had to stop (or risk injury). The workout is designed to be done 3 times in a row, with minimal breaks. I felt weak and squishy and pretty pathetic. It was disheartening.
BUT!
But it was also a wake up call! I have a starting point for my exercise now. Yes, I'm squishy today. But tomorrow, a little less squishy. Eventually, no squish. I started yesterday. I will keep going. I will keep "leveling up." There are no extra lives in the game of life. I need to make the most of mine. End game goal: become one B.A. nerd boss. Operation: Beast Mode commenced!

I was in bed with a migraine all day. :(

Mysterious bumper-to-bumper traffic while I was trying to leave my neighborhood for work made me 30 minutes late... I had every intention of stopping by a Bruegger's-esque shop by my kids' daycare to get a healthy breakfast, but I had to settle for one of the complimentary muffins in their waiting area. Ended up being 20 minutes late for work. Yay.
On the bright side, my kids were awesome about getting ready and out the door this morning! Silver linings.
