Weighed in today, finally. It was at the end of the day, so was heavier than I would have been if I had weighed in the morning. Either way, I'm still 2 lbs less than I thought I would be, which means I gained less weight than I thought I would after moving back into the dorms! Small victories are still good victories. :)

Day two of the diet is going well. I'm trying to think of it less as a diet and more as a lifestyle change. I've always had a little bit of a problem with portion control, so hopefully now that I'm consciously trying to measure how much food is on my plate so I can input the amount here, those problems will start to fade away, never to return.

Also, I've run my second sub-10 minute mile in two days! This is the first time I've run with any speed in a very long time, so I'm super proud. ^_^

The real test of this program is going to begin on Monday, when I have to schedule eating and exercise around classes... I hope it will go well, but my big challenge is going to be Mondays through Wednesdays, because on Mondays and Wednesdays I have classes from 3:50 to 7:25 (during which is when my body usually says "Hey! Dinner time! Feed me, wench!"), and on Tuesdays, I have one class that gets out at 2:55 and another that starts at 6, which is usually when I am tempted to go out to eat so I can make sure I've eaten enough to last through my second class (which ends at 8:45), but my two restaurants that are on my usual list are closed during that time.

So, those are my concerns for the upcoming week! Here's hoping things stay as they currently are.

This is my first journal entry before trying to get my weight down. I am a college student and do not actually own a scale, so my starting weight is currently an estimation (if I can change it, I will. If not, I will record what my actual starting weight is in a future journal entry). My goal weight is about 130 lbs, which is what I weighed after a production I was in during Spring of 2011 (I act). Granted, I did not lose the weight in a safe fashion, because due to rehearsal and class commitments, I legitimately had no time to eat, and when I did, either I was too exhausted to do so, was no longer hungry, or food was unavailable at the time. However, I was very happy with how I looked at the end of the semester. As could be predicted, I gained the weight back, and then gained more when I moved into the dorms that Fall. My total weight gain was around 25 pounds.

The weight gain really took a toll on me. I have always had self-esteem and self-confidence issues, and the weight gain only made them worse. I truly disliked myself, for the first time in a very long time. So, I decided that once the opportunity presented itself (namely, after the semester of Spring 2012), that I would try to take the weight off. I tried losing weight over this summer by changing my diet and doing yoga regularly, but I was unsuccessful (I got to about 152 after the first two weeks, but then plateaued and the number did not change for the rest of the summer). Although I discovered that I adore yoga, now that I have classes again and have moved back to the dorms, finding time and a new, easily accessible studio has become near impossible. On a better note, I feel that I am now more able to attack losing weight, because I have already begun restricting my eating out to twice a week (my two favorite restaurants: one Japanese and one Indian), and then (for my Indian restaurant), making sure that I bring leftovers home for the next day instead of trying to eat it all in one sitting. I am trying to get my parents (who are Ironman triathletes and, thus, very health conscious) to make me food so I am not forced to eat out at every meal. Also, my water intake has increased drastically (although I am still allowing myself diet soda). So, the battle has already begun, minus adding exercise into the mix.

In conclusion, that is my story! I hope that this site will help my journey along significantly. ^_^
