I was diagnosed with Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis on May 30 2012. My doctor said that I needed to lose enough weight to get on the lung transplant list. I started this journey on June 1 2012. My BMI when I started was 49.1 (body mass index. My starting weight was 294. I am now down to 242 and my BMI is 40.3. I was diagnosed with Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension in September. Both of these diseases are incurable. I am so determined to get on the transplant list so that I may see my 28 yr old daughter become a Doctor. I am having gastric bypass surgery on October 26th. I am scared but happy that I have this option to have this done.
I know that this a lifestyle change for me and just not to lose weight. This IS MY LIFE I am trying to save. I have a really strong support system. I have 3 grand children that help me everyday with this journey and so many people who are really proud of me as I am of myself. I am 57 yrs old and live in Vancouver, WA.
