Well here I am - Again! Once again a med event with diverticulitis. I tried the liquid diet right a way but the fever hit and I ended up for a quick stint in ER. I've been told that nuts, berries and seeds can trigger an attack, but I've eaten all of my life and frankly, it would be easier to give up any of my other vices than my berries, nuts and seeds. Others say that's a wives tale and it has been de bunked. Dr. Internet sheds no light either. So, I'll talk to a gastro at some point soon.

Had my first 'recordable' food in a while TODAY, having been on a clear liquid diet for 5 days. Talk about horrible! Most of the stuff I can have is filled with sugar, Jell-O, juices etc. and with antibiotics not a good combo for future complications for us girls for sure. Diet drinks bring their own kind of scary for what they may do long term to our health. Bone broth is the only savory thing I could really have. I had such a need to 'chew' and saw somewhere I could eat gummy sweets. I nearly stabbed my husbands hand helping me open a Swedish Fish bag 😂 So today I'm grateful to be eating 'bland food'. NEVER,ever would this foodie ever have said that otherwise!

I look forward to catching up with all of you!!!

Been out of the FS world for a few days and not really caring about my diet. Life/death happens. We lost our little love, our dog Jackson after 15 years. We knew it was coming and we consider ourselves very fortunate to have had him that long (as a 60lb dog), but it doesn't make his loss easier. After 15 years, he wasn't just a family member he was an integral part of our lifestyle. Literally, our world revolved around him his feedings, walks, exercise, health, sickness. He was diagnosed with spleen cancer in August, and held on remarkably until just last week.

Luckily I'm not a person who consoles myself with food, so that was reasonable, but I did drink wine and generally not care about the quality of what I consumed. And, I feel that was okay for a few days. Grief is tough and we all handle it in our own way. This morning I took a walk at the beach before going to work, and I'm considering myself in re-set mode. Not entirely there, but booting back up...slowly.

Just another reminder to be gracious with each other, and ourselves. We never really know what's going on in people's lives.
Peace and love FS peeps.
