Hi, I'm Ann. Having struggled with excess lbs my entire life, the time has come to deal with it once and for all. Have been on countless diets since childhood and through adulthood. All of them worked for a bit until they didn't. I am a "food as a coping mechanism for everything" eater so have a tendency to lose a bit and will go off whatever program of the day I'm on at the first hint of excess stress.

I cannot afford to keep going on this way as my health is being compromised. Reached an all time high March 2023 at 264lbs and a BMI of 41+. Health was becoming an issue and my family doctor agrees. Was referred to a bariatric clinic. With their help (endocrinologist, nutritionist, food addiction counselor) I've begun my journey by changing everything, from what and how I eat to how much I move. June 2023, the endocrinologist added Ozempic to my program which has been a total gamechanger. My biggest struggle with weight loss has always been food noise - constant litany of now food, next food, what food. Add to it I always felt hungry and once eating, never felt full. That has changed now. I only wish that I had known that some of my struggle has been rooted in biology all along. It would have made such a difference to self esteem these past decades.

My goals
DONE 1) 255lbs - BMI >40 Class3 to Class2 Obese
DONE 2) 239lbs - less than 100lb to lose
DONE 3) 223lbs - BMI >35 Class2 to Class1 Obese
DONE 4) 220lbs - weight early 50s
DONE 5) 210lbs - mid point to next goal
DONE 6) 200lbs - weight early 40s
DONE 7) 191lbs - BMI >30 Class 1 Obese to Overweight
DONE 8) 180lbs - weight early 30s
DONE 9) 170lbs - mid point to next goal
DONE 10) 164lbs - 100 lbs lost
11) 159lbs - BMI >25 Class Overweight to Normal
12) 150lbs - weight early 20s
13) 140lbs - weight late teens (BMI midrange Normal)

Doctor recommending..
I am a user of Ozempic. For me it has been lifechanging in the best of ways. I have been on countless diets since my early teens and just kept packing on more pounds. The struggle for me was constant food noise - when food, next food, now food, want food. Constant litany of demand from my brain. Added to it, I was always hungry and satiation was not a feeling I was familiar with.

There is a bit of a misconception about how Ozempic works. Many starting to use it are under the impression that it is a magic fat melting drug. It is not. Does it help to regulate insulin and temper leptin/ghrelin signalling? Yes. At high doses it can cause nausea and other unwanted side effects which some users rely on to basically go the starvation route.

I was lucky as I've had a team around me up until I reached the overweight mark (from BMI class 3 of 41+). This consisted of an endocrinologist, dieticion, my GP and a food addiction counsellor.

I can attest that as part of my ongoing journey the changes I have made are profound - no simple carbs, no fast food. no ultraprocessed food. Higher protein intake, lots of fresh veg and certain low GI fruits. Hydrate hydrate hydrate. It was mandatory that I begin weight training as well. Best thing ever. I am now stronger, fitter happier than I've been in decades.

Best of all, I am still on a pretty low dose as that is enough to keep the obsessive food thoughts at bay.

I am one of the lucky ones. Without this peptide as part of my toolkit, odds are I'd still be 100 or more lbs heavier than I am now and well on the way to a much shortened life span due to terrible hypertension.
