Sorta blew it today at lunch. DH ran over to Culvers and ordered everyone a Colby Jack Pub Burger. We were starving...so there it is. That was it for the day though. I will pay for eating that bread in a painful way. Bread/Gluten and my tum tum cannot peacefully co-exist. So that's over.
Now, on to fixing a HUGE Memorial Day BBQ for fam and friends. Its quadrupled in size in less that 24 hours. LOL!
And, to all our veterans out there...thank you for your service and sacrifice for our country. May the Lord God richly bless you all!!! Annie

Today is hard. Would have been Daddy's 94th birthday. I miss him so much. It doesn't seem like its been 6 years since he died. I get those 'emotional ambushes' on birthdays, holidays and certain times of the year. Memorial day is hard too. Every time I hear Taps and the 21 gun salute....I completely break down. Reminds me of the morning of his funeral. The honor guard had driven up from Kentucky. I can't share much beyond that, as I will completely breakdown while typing. Trying extra hard to keep the emotional eating monster subdued. So far, so good. I might have to do some planning for this afternoon and evening. But, if I keep reminding myself that "comfort food" isn't going to comfort me...it should be fine. Have a blessed day all. Annie

Woke up late---got dressed for the gym, and I forgot to weigh in first thing. It didn't occur to me until after I chugged 1 coffee and a bottle of Vitamin Water Zero. So, I hope I am less than what the scales indicate. who knows!
Decided to put in a garden, despite not having the house done yet. Figured it would help me to continue looking forward, rather than stagnant. I'm working on getting seeds germinated here at the condo, and then will transplant in a week or so when the chance of frost is nearly gone. Love those little peat pot buggers!
Feeling better with the continuous exercise now. Back pain is nearly gone. Flexibility in the knees are much better. Just wish the pounds would go away so I could do even more- without killing the knees. I'd love to do the stair machine at the gym, but experience tells me "not yet." So...I shall continue to be vigilant and careful. Have a blessed day all!

gaining 1.1 lb a week

I feel like a human Yo-Yo. Just dealing with the same three pounds for a month now, it seems. Considering a little fasting to see if we can't break through this monotony.
While working out at the gym 5 days a week, I am moving towards more bicycle and treadmill work- vs. weight machine things. I have to do the leg- extension widgets for my knees- as it was part of the PT from knee surgery- and helps tremendously with pain reduction. The leg press is a killer for my right knee, so I've eliminated that for now. Doing the hip/thigh aduction generates a good kind of pain that I think is beneficial. Not a real muscle builder so much as stretching and toning.
From a food standpoint, I think it might be time to just do a total carb overhaul, and see what I should cut out. Anything with wheat gives me horrific pain in the upper and lower GI, so that's been out for awhile. I added in Quinoa and wild rice, and some brown rice here and there. I mix them with sliced almonds to cut the total carb count but create more in texture. Dairy is all but gone- except for a little butter and once in a while- a little bit of cheese. (Sprinkle of parmesan or crumbles of feta). But, I guess I can just 86 the rice/grains and go from there.
feeling a little defeated at the moment, but I can see a few areas where I could make some improvements- so we shall go from there.
Sorry for blathering on...just thinking outloud I s'pose-(which is really what my journal is for.) Have a blessed day all!
