Record every mouthful, it really helps to know how many calories you have consumed during the day and helps with planning what to eat later in the day.
Just takes a bit of getting used to. Good luck!

My wife and I set our meals at least 24 hours in advance. This way we know what our calorie intake will be. I use Fatsecret to find the value of each item then record it on a spread sheet.
I can adjust the forecast menu until we are both happy with the figures then it is set in stone, we eat nothing else other than the menu.
Of course, the menu includes snacks, we all love to snack it is part of our makeup but as long as we know the figures it is not a problem.
Recording what you are going to eat is important but recording what you have "eaten" is an automatic failure.
Yes, it is a chore, none of us like doing this recording or planning lark as planning takes effort but the end result is so worthwhile.
All it takes is will power and a will to win, sadly not all of us have this gift.
