I just weighed myself and (thankfully) I've lost a couple more lbs. (I plateaued for a couple weeks) I'm not sure of the science of weight loss. so I have a few questions!
First the facts. I'm 53 (now) 123 lbs and I'm 4' 10 and a half inches tall. I live a mostly sedentary lifestyle because of COPD and RA and a bad spine. but I exercise 5x a week and go for little walks (1/2 + 2 miles) 2-3x a week.
AND I'm eating at a deficit for a total of 1200 calories a day.
the issue is I can't seem to eat that much. (1200 calories)
I went from junk food all day chips, peanut butter and cheese crackers, and butter and jelly sandwiches, fun size candy bars, movie box candy little Debbie's brownies, baked desserts a donut 3 times a week, and more than a normal dinner.
Now I'm mostly sugar free. no more 6 teaspoon of sugar in 2 large coffees no more snacky snacks, 0 junk food! I weigh EVERYTHING and I account for any oils I use! I'm being 100% honest with my calorie counting. I feel like I eat a LOT of food. breakfast lunch dinner and healthy chosen snacks, (fruit, string cheese, mini rice cakes. ect) I'm NEVER hungry and I don't have cravings! so is it ok that I only eat 900-1000 calories a day and still lose weight healthily?
123.9 lb Lost so far: 10.6 lb.    Still to go: 20.3 lb.    Diet followed reasonably well.

I think this is a question best directed to a nutritionist who can look at everything that you are eating and make sure you are supplying your body with all the nutrients it needs. You also may have special nutrient and diet considerations due to the conditions you mentioned. What about things like bone mineral density, gut and immune health etc. That would be my concern if I were eating a diet this low in calories.

Everyone usually has to get in at least 1200 calories a day to get minimum nutritional needs. Below that and your body often goes into starvation mode. If you want to eat less than that you should be under a doctor's care to do it.

I was just thinking I need to find a nutritionist! Hopefully through my medical insurance (Medicaid) probably not. But I eat 3 meals a day AND healthy (ier) snacks. I drink as much water as I can about 50 oz a day. Iland I weigh every little detail about my meals. I can't possibly see how I can get the 1200. Yesterday I ate a sugar free jello (out of boredom) AND I ate a sugar free chocolate pudding for dessert last night and I was still only at 1000 calories . I never considered protein bars because they were so high in calorie from such a little thing now I think that's probably going to help. Plus I need to up my protein so badly! And maybe it does have something to do with my medical conditions, like ,,Hashimoto's
