I've figured out a way to walk five miles when I work all day. I park so that I walk 10 minutes from my car to the library and then back again (20 minutes). I come to work early and walk inside the library and up and down the stairs (it's six stories) for 30 minutes. I walk 30 minutes during my lunch hour and 10 minutes during my break. That makes 90 minutes of walking!

I wear my heart monitor watch to make sure my heart rate is in the target range (and going up stairs helps that a lot!)

My target heart rate is 111-135, but because I take a beta blocker for high blood pressure which lowers my rate rate by 20 beats a minute, my doctor said I should also reduce my target rate by 20 beats. So, for me, my target rate is actually 91-115.

Here's a link to a target heart rate calculator:

I should start parking in our last spot in the parking lot. There's plenty of places to walk here. I try to walk 30-35 minutes during my lunch. But I'm loving the parking lot idea! Thanks!
