Egull1's Journal, 03 January 2021

So one of the things I've been doing is daily weigh-ins. It has occurred to that my "lows" may not fall on the weekends anymore. To be fair, I haven't done daily weigh-in "data collection" since 2017 when I first began this journey. A few things have changes since then, notwithstanding the reality I am 97 pounds less than I was before, LOL.

Weekly fluctuations shift and change with bodyweight. I no longer gain up to 5-7 lbs. after a surplus day. 3-4 lbs of water and bulk is usually the max. And, even after a workout day, the weight is up on average only .5 lbs -> 1 lb.

Another huge factor that has impacted weekly weight fluctuations is that I have actually become perty darn regular in eliminating waste. And, without getting into to much detail, this was definitely NOT the case 3 years back and especially after I lost sensation in my lower extremities after the MS flare up 2017.

It's been a long intestinal journey for this girl lemme tell ya!!!

But, for some reason after incorporating the Wim Hoff breathing techniques this past year, I pay taxes to the porcelain god almost every morning, with the exception of a day or 2.

And, of course the bulk that comes out will definitely impact the scale. So, I decided out of curiosity alone to start doing daily weigh-ins in stead of weekly.

And...sure enough - there were some lows couched in there that obviously aren't showing up on the weekends. I was amazed to see 113.0 lbs. on Wednesday. This is actually after a higher cal day. And, of course we have 112.8 lbs. yesterday. I haven't seen 112 for a couple of months.

So, we're going to be scale hopping for the next several weeks and I will be inputting the data into the "Happy Scale" app so I can see what the average is at this point. I don't think it will be all that much different. Happy Scale has the current average around 113.2, and that sounds about right.

I'm actually 2 whole pounds up from October! Given I've lost some inches since then, I'm going to view that as muscular gains!

And, get this - I'm a little over 13 lbs. less than I was from this time last year! It's an average loss of about 1.1 lbs/month, which is commensurate with increased activity. I pay attention to average rate of loss because it tells me if it's just due to increased activity or whether or not there's something health-wise going on.

A lot of women my age incur under or over active thyroid issues and this can begin with significant unexplained weight loss. There's nothing to significant about a 1.1/month loss. So, I'm assessing the loss incurred this past year came from increased gains and skill in the gym as well as activity outside of it.

Apart from daily weigh-ins the only other exciting thing going on is the appt. scheduled tomorrow with the MS neurologist. It's been put off long enough. I am thankful we're doing it over the phone. I have no desire to be anywhere near a doctor's office, hospital, or clinic right now.

I'm inclined to cancel again since my blood work came out pretty decent. I had some slight drops in the overall WBC and T-cell counts. But, nothing so significant that it alarms me.

There's still enough soldiers to battle RONA!!! Though I don't want those counts to drop anymore than they have, and have no intention of wasting them on Ms. Rona.

However, there is some new controversy stirring in the MS world with regards to the vaccine. And, this definitely needs to be discussed with the "MS Care Team".

An MS researcher in Spain very recently came out with a published study that cited out of 400 plus MS'ers who contracted COVID and were on various "disease modifying therapies" (DMT's) such as my own - only 17% of those 400 MS'ers were able to create anti-bodies that will protect them from getting it again.

17% is very, very paltry. The others showed minimal to very low anti-body response. Somewhere around 30-50%.

So, what's the big deal?

Well, the concern is if folks with MS on DMT's or treatment that modifies or suppresses the immune system cannot create significant anti-bodies to the actual virus, how well will they fair with the vaccine?

The vaccine isn't even a full virus. It's just a small little dead protein spike. A blue print if you will for the immune system to create anti-bodies from.

And, to be sure-the majority of the "general population's" immune system can do this without blinking twice.

But, the majority of the population is not on immune-suppressants that actually suppress or compromise the body's ability to create anti-bodies to flu's, viruses, or other infections.

There are some workarounds being discussed by MS neurologists nationwide and globally to see what can be done to increase the immunity of folks on DMT's and immune suppressants once the vaccination becomes available. And, these are the things I want to discuss with the neurologist.

Until then, I'm in the same boat with everyone else and it's a "wait and see" deal. Still, I want Miss Jessica (my neurologist) and I to have a tentative game plan in place when the time comes.

Because, I can tell ya right now folks - 30%-50% immunity may be better than nothing, but it is not peace of mind to this gal :-)

In the meantime, I just keep truckin'. The present moment is no less sacred and wonderful and I just continue to pursue and manifest some joyful bliss in whatever creative and fun way I can.

Have a blessed and beautiful week, everyone! I'll catch ya next weekend :-)
