okay so i decided to stay in phase one hoping that the weight loss would continue but i am starting to doubt myself, i am still at 140, which i have been at since early last week, im still working out and still eating everything the diet says to for phase one and i seem to be stuck, really stuck, i have the dress fitting next tues and i wanted to be at 135 by then and now im just feeling bummed... i know i have to keep working at this but i just feel like no matter what now im not going to lose any more and i am just destined to be 140 for the rest of my life... ugh, im sorry to sound so depressed about it but it has been a rough couple of days and i just really need to vent, i gave me job two weeks notice on fri last week and just some major aggrivation with my ex and now my roommate, and weight loss has been the positive part of my life and now i just feel like i dont even have that! well time for my healthy afternoon snack of mozz. low fat cheese stick, i sure wish it was a chocolate fudge sundae.... :(
140.0 lb Lost so far: 7.0 lb.    Still to go: 22.0 lb.    Diet followed reasonably well.

What may be happening with your diet and exercise program is that your body is becoming leaner and meaner. Muscle mass weighs five times more than fat tissue and as you build up your strength through exercise, even though you may not experience an immediate loss in weight, you have done yourself a great deal of good. We all get stuck on those plateaus for a while and then, boom, all of a sudden you lose three or four pounds in one day. Hang in there and think about the good things...

Don’t get too stressed out about maintaining your weight. You just hit a plateau; you may have to increase your cardio a little or add in some new strength training exercises. When you feel frustrated or aggravated this is the best time to hit the gym or go for a job outside, get out all of your frustrations in exercise. Hang in there, you are doing great!

i am in the exact same situation as yourself, and do i ever feel your pain!!! i seem to have stopped at almost the same weight and its such a pain. i agree tho that it might be a change in muscle to fat ratio in your body, so i will offer you the advice of not giving up and i'll hope that it will encourage myself also :) you should make yourself a fat free fudgsicle/peanut butter/whipped topping thing...i find it to be a nice little pick me up when i'm craving the sweets too. hope your day and your weight loss picks up for ya ;)

dont worry, stick to it.... i stalled for 3 wks and i was eating perfect and working out like crazy , however i lost inches ( thats the important thing) after 3 wks ive only lost 1 pound but i feel leaner and tighter, so you just have to be patient. Sometimes your body just has to adjust to the new weight b4 you start losing again. I know exactly how you feel to be frustrated. Hang in there!!! you'll make it!

Wow, are you getting the comments for this journal!! I think it's because part of losing weight, the most frustrating part, is hitting plateaus and everybody does it. EVERYBODY. I'm a champion at stalling out in one spot. This is going to sound risky, but the absolute best way to bust a plateau is to eat a little more and exercise a little more. The first time I was told that, I ate more just because I was frustrated and pissed about dieting and decided that I had nothing to lose. I worked out about 20 extra minutes a day for a week, pushed a little harder, and lost 4.6 lbs. that week alone!! Granted, the 4.6 lbs didn't happen again the next week, but I got past my standstill. I was shocked. Don't add too much, just about 150 calories a day, and make sure you work it back off. I don't know how or why it works, but it does. (I also lowered my sodium intake a little and drank a little extra water per day.)

You might also try adding in just one serving of fruit or complex carbs about 3 days a week. You really aren't supposed to stay on phase one for very long because your body gets used to that limited group of foods and stops having the reaction (weight loss) that you want. Whatever you do, don't get discouraged. Stress can also send your body into plateu. Just count your blessings that you aren't gaining anything.
