I had been paleo/primal for over 6 months at this time last year and the healthiest and happiest i've been in my entire life. Through a series of moves, illnesses and being generally inattentive to my slipping back into bad habits, i'm 20 lbs heavier one year later. and not happy about it. time to get my act together again.
I'm exercising regularly again, which is great, but I need to fix my eating - i don't really eat terribly, i avoid all processed foods and eat lots of vegetables and grass-fed beef, fish, etc. however, I probably drink too much (definitely at least one drink per night), and i tend to attack nuts, and i dont think i'll ever be able to give up greek yogurt. lately i've been having bread/chips/crackers every once in a while, but even that small amount is enough to derail me. i need to just stop eating it completely, like i did before when i felt amazing. and i need to not drink beer, except maybe once a week and it needs to be something proper, like chimay tripel or a good microbrew.
i respond well to having a 'big eater day', once a week, where i try to hit 1000 more calories (of good food) than normal. so on these days i might not be totally paleo, but still avoid gluten becaue it really wreaks havoc on my system when i have been not having it for a while. on these days i should just have more fruit than normal. i can eat whatever i want on these days, but the goal here is to not want to eat this crap - i didnt before, so i know i can do it. these also might be days where i know i'm going out and will probably drink 1000 calories in booze. girl has to celebrate.
but those 6 days - i need to be fierce about this, especially at first, because i KNOW i feel amazing when i stick to it, and after 2 weeks it will be like that ecstatic rfeeling again and i will already start to look better, i just need to do it for the 2 weeks, with the one big eater day in between.
to jump start into this, because i know i can, i'm going to do the first week where i have a max 50 carbs/day (total) and max 1600 cals/day. i will exercise 5 daqys/week - force myself to rest solidly on one day, and on the other day do some low impact hiking or whatever - 500 cals worth. so i should be burning 2600 cals/day, eating 1600 cals/day, then on the big eater day hitting a net 0 cals. which means for 6 days of burning 1000/day, i will lose 2lbs/week, which means i should be able to lose the 20lbs i want in 10 weeks - by Dec 18. Which means by thanksgiving, which i'm trying to get hot for becasue i'm going to be seeing someone who i want to impress, i should be 14 lbs lighter. so here we go!
