Looks like I need to back off of cashews. Probable for good at least until I get the weight off and the diabetes is under control. I couldn’t figure it out. By blood sugar has been dropping consistently and then I start eating some cashews thinking they’re good for me and then my blood sugar starts going up 50-70 points. This could also solve the Chinese problem. I typically get
Cashew chicken and couldn’t figure out why my blood sugar was going way up. Might need to figure out some different Chinese dishes. Anyway, it was a nice surprise seeing myself down three more lbs. I continue to have a problem with chick-fil-et Mac and cheese. If I could just kick cashews and their Mac I would be in a pretty good spot.

It's not the cashews, it's the added sugars and the sodium.

Compare nutritional info to other nuts next time you’re at the store. I love cashews but try to avoid them (high in calories, fat and carbs) compared to almonds or walnuts. Everything in moderation though. 1 ounce isn’t much but those tiny portions add up quick if you don’t measure to see what 1 ounce actually is. At least that was my problem. Then I started measuring and realized what a serving size actually is. Good luck!

Jester, you are correct. Let's compare cashews and the other culprits, Panda Express Cashew Chicken, and Chick-fil-A Macaroni and Cheese. We will look at just sugar and sodium...1. Cashews (raw) 1 oz. - sugar - 2 grams, sodium - 15 mg. 2. Panda Express Cashew Chicken - sugar - 8 grams, sodium - 640 mg 3. Chick-fil-A Macaroni and Cheese (medium) - sugar - 38 grams, sodium - 1200 mg. So, yes, portion control is important. But looks like making your own Macaroni and Cheese may be helpful. You decide. All the best. 🤓

I’m sorry Erquiaga, I was responding to Delirious’ post, not yours. But thank you for going through the trouble of looking up all the information in such a humiliating and belittling way. 🙄 My comments were only about cashews and nothing more. I certainly wouldn’t had shamed someone for making the choice to have Panda Express or Mac n cheese, nor would I have been passive aggressive towards someone else’s comment. As far as your “you decide” comment, it’s not my choice nor my decision. Good luck to you on your healthy journey. Welcome back to FS Delirious. I’m glad you’re watching the affects of your choices and making changes to find your path to a healthier lifestyle. Good luck!!

My apologies, Jester. There was no intention to humiliate, belittle, or anything else. Delirious, my most sincere apologies to you, if you found this offensive. I was just providing information. I wish everyone success in their journey to a healthier lifestyle.✌️🕊️

Additionally, Jester, this was not directed towards you. It certainly would be nice for people to meet face-to-face so intentions would be more clear. Words are not always taken the same when written.

Good luck! My sis stopped eating all nuts and felt much better within one day. Her weight was plateauing because of all the nuts she was constantly snacking on. Doesn’t hurt to try something else and see how your body responds.

I needed to google this to see but it does say that nuts do not have an effect on blood sugar. They are good but of course in moderation. I do eat all kinds and I love them, I wouldn't want to stop unless I had to. I did manage to learn not eat too many at once.

One thing I love about FS is how kind and supportive everyone is when I'm feeling down, and when I'm celebrating success. Good job Deliriou, it's always great when we find what works for us.
