Hi. Remember when you are nursing your body need enough food to produce milk. It helped me to try and have only better choices in the house like nuts and fruit to snack on as you dont always get time to make a meal. Try an omelet in the mornings or boiled eggs that you can keep in the fridge for a snack or lunch as well. Try to eat as balanced meal in the evening. Drink lots of water and enjoy your baby!

I would say that you need to drink enough water and rooibos tea (caf free) to keep well hydrated. Also eat enough good carbs as your body needs the energy to produce milk, eat lots of starchy veggies and wholewheat products. The more your baby drinks, the more milk will be produced. There are some suppliments that you can take but I will leave that as a last resort. I dont know if you are close to a good breastfeeding clinic, but that can also be a huge help. As long as your baby is picking up weight you know that you are producing enough milk.

I struggled to produce milk when I had my last baby. Has a result he was underweight right up about 3 to 3 months. I was determined to breastfeed, I tried many things, was told to drink ginger, but at the end of the day it was because my baby was struggling with latching and was not getting sufficient milk. I confused him more by giving him expressed milk in a bottle. When he got the drinking right he gained weight and drank milk till he was almost 4 years old. So I think the more the baby gets out of your breast the more will be produced. I lost loads of weight during breastfeeding and did so really fast. Eat healthy for baby to have nutritious milk from you and the weight will sort itself out... that is my experience...I know it may be different for you, but hope it encourages you to persevere...
