Grammie57's Journal, 16 September 2012

I originally started at 260 lbs.; before beginning medication for my type 2 diabetes. I've had trouble adjusting to medication due to its side effects and had to change MD's. The new doctor has sent me to education classes as should have been done 4 years ago and is monitoring me monthly. The majority of my weight loss has been due to medication side effects over the past 4 months, however, medication has been adjusted and side effects have begun to subside, so I suspect the remainder of the weight loss will be WORK.
Dropping 41 lbs. and 12 inches from my waist in 4 months has been hard on this old body; but it did show me the weight can be lost...it's not concrete!
The loss has allowed me to walk again; before I was doing great to walk a couple blocks, now I'm walking a mile a day and pushing for more, using arm & leg weights as I walk is helping me regain lost muscle. I've got 3 grandchildren with a fourth one on the way! I loved my grandmother, but I don't want my grandchildren to remember me the way I remember her...on 6 shots a day, dying of kidney failure. Losing this weight, NOW, is the best thing I can do for myself & for them.
219.0 lb Lost so far: 41.0 lb.    Still to go: 49.0 lb.    Diet followed N/A.

Wow, you are doing a wonderful thing for yourself and for your grandchildren. What is the diet you are on? I bet you are feeling a whole lot better! I don't have grandchildren yet, but I mostly likely will in the next few years, and like you, I want to really enjoy them! I had a knee replacement last year, and now, after losing over 50 lbs, I think I am going to be able to put off replacing the other one for a long time. All of my pain is gone. Keep it up!!
