Hi, I have been doing better. I haven't checked in for a while because counting calories really wasn't doing much for me. So, I went to see a nutritionist and she suggested that I follow a low carb diet because I have been diagnosed with PCOS (Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome). PCOS can cause an elevated blood glucose in women that could lead to type two diabetes. It also makes women with PCOS carry weight around their midsections. So, I started following a low carb diet of about 100 carbs a day, and I have dropped ten and a half pounds in about eight weeks. I also take metformin which aids in lowering the blood glucose level. Although I am not currently a diabetic, because of my PCOS I have a tendency to have the elevated blood glucose which can also make a woman carry weight around the stomach region. however, the metformin definitely lends a hand in helping control appetite. I also take birth control pills now because my hormones were out of whack which is a big reason I have PCOS. The birth control pills help control my hormone levels. So, if you have irregular menses associated with lower abdominal pain, you may want to ask your doctor to check your hormones to see if they are in check. This is one indicator that your hormones are not right.
