Seems as though I've survived the almighty plateau of July '18. My weight is steadily dropping, and I'm very happy with my progress. My plan over the next few weeks is to start mixing things up a bit. I'm going to try a slightly longer fasting period, but have two meals on some days. I've read some people's experiences which suggest that varying the fasting lengths and number of meals can avoid stalling. I'm prepared to give that a go to see if it works, because a month without any progress was rather crushing to my motivation. I was nearly ready to give up. If you severely restrict calories, your body basically switches itself to standby mode, meaning you feel cold, tired, foggy brained, lethargic, etc. That's a clear indication that you're using way fewer calories than normal to run your body, so that even on a diet under 1000 calories, you won't see much weight loss - you'll just feel really crappy. So my strategy is to trick my body into thinking it's still getting heaps of calories, by keeping my meals very satisfying and eating until I'm full, but just extending the length between them. Not that I count calories, but it's the easiest way to explain "starvation mode".
