Making an effort to go vegetarian with the goal of vegan is helping all by itself. I can feel my tastes changing already. The hardest things to replace are milk products. I like homemade (and Fage!) Greek yogurt, homemade ice cream, Havarti cheese, Italian cheeses. Trying out Almond, soy and coconut milks but I can't understand why the producers find it necessary to add thickening agents. I'm coming from skim milk so the thickness actually puts me off. Veggies and fruits have always been on my happy list so that is not a problem at all. In fact, I'm truly enjoying not having to justify eating "just" the veggies without a meat product in my meals!

Excercise was a real problem this week. The heat is unbearable and twicely so for me with my health issues. Just getting through the day is a challenge. The good news is that the heat will be abating in my area and I'm looking forward to getting out and walking again in addition to my stationary bike. Weight went up 0.2 lbs and I'm feeling pretty good about that. I'm so happy to be solidly in the 230s rather than 240s. I've met my criteria for staying at or below 235/236 for over a week so I can claim that weight now. Now ... 220s!
235.8 lb Lost so far: 11.9 lb.    Still to go: 60.8 lb.    Diet followed reasonably well.

just a quick suggestion for the milk, I know in my area that soy milk also comes in light form witch is closer to the "skim milk" you are probably used to. Welcome to the vegan/vegetarian club... good luck.

Good luck. Sounds like you have a great attitude! My daughter started a vegetarian diet at age 9 (I still made her eat fish and eggs) and 6 years later we both follow it. We eat a LOT of black beans and garbanzo beans - organic, canned, rinsed. Lots of recipes that are yummy with curry, veggies, Mexican, etc. We are in a local CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) weekly veggie program with an Amish farmer and that is a wonderful way to get organic veggies and fruits for 20 weeks in our area. Anything like that near you?
